'I am no less popular than Tulsi or Parvati'

On doing an afternoon soap
It hardly makes a difference for an actor whether you are doing an
afternoon soap or prime time soap. You don't act any less or more in
them. I feel the afternoon slot is better for housewives who can watch
the episode more peacefully as children and husbands are out. And
soaps are essentially targeted at women.
On not being as popular as Tulsi or Parvati
I don't agree that I am any less popular than Tulsi or Parvati. Or
else I would not have lasted 700 episodes. Wherever I go people
address me as Kumkum. The love and appreciation I have got as Kumkum
is unbelievable.
On what makes 'Kumkum' different
I think ours is the only daily soap that has survived for so long
without any generation leap. We have managed to hold the viewer's
interest in Kumkum's life without making her age beyond her years.
That is the biggest achievement in terms of story telling.
On Juhi beyond 'Kumkum'
As of now my life revolves around 'Kumkum' as I am shooting most of
the days in a month for it. So I have no life beyond 'Kumkum' at the
moment. I think I would be unfair to my character if I thought of a
life beyond her. She has given me so much and I owe my success to her.
On attempting the comic
I would love to do comedies like 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai' or 'Instant
Khichdi'. I think that would be a distinct departure in terms of
displaying my acting prowess. I love funny moments and am basically a
light hearted person looking for fun.
