Star Advice: Shahid Kapoor

With millions of screaming fans, a Rajiv Gandhi award, critical acclaim and the most highly anticipated film, Kaminey in his kitty, Shahid Kapoor's path to superstardom is set. Kaminey is easily his best, most layered performance so far and it has helped him shed his chocolate boy image. In spite of the buzz surrounding him, Shahid is alarmingy grounded and one of the sweetest, non-starry stars you will ever meet. Who better than him then to give you tips on how to handle stardom.

Tip 1: A star's job is to look good and an actor's job is to do different roles and expand his experience. I am a commercial hero trying to be a combination of both. The industry had good actors, directors and composers but it is very difficult to find a good script. So when you get it, grab it with both hands. Every actor or star should work with Vishal Bhardwaj atleast once to discover new aspects of himself.

Tip 2: I am very particular about my workouts and love going for rides on my bike. It clears my head and recharges me. I love my personal space. It is important to make time for yourself and do what you like. Not drinking and smoking may be considered boring but at the end of the day, your health is of utmost importance. I am not a party animal though I love dancing.

Tip 3: Always be there for your family and friends who have known before you were famous. Care and be concerned about them as they keep you grounded. Keep your personal life private. Respect the dignity of a woman and don't criticize anyone in public. Don't lose yourself to stardom.

Tip 4: Fame has a good side and a flip side. You have to handle both because fame is fickle. Tomorrow somebody else might take your place. Don't let anything that is written about you in the media make you upset. It's difficult but you will get used to it. The people who matter to you should know the truth.

Tip 5: Work towards improving your craft and learn as many skills as you can. You must love your job and enjoy doing what you do. I want to get to a point where I can do one film a year and that will require great, challenging roles and my dedication to enact them well.

On second thoughts, Shahid is a misfit in a lot of ways ....but often the misfits carve their own weird but applaudable niche . Maybe Shahid has.
A loveable man... a little difficult to comprehend though. If you can deal with his book of life, you would never want to love anybody else.
Best of luck, Shahid. Keep shining.
