Aamir Khan in Delhi By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 29, 2005 - 03:07 IST In the recent past Aamir Khan has been continuously been to and fro to Delhi. Reason? No he hasn't joined politics. His films are being shot over there. Earlier it was Rakyesh Mehra's Rang De Basanti that was shot in and around the historical monuments of Delhi. Now it's Kunal Kohli's Fanaah.
Yash Raj Films has a history of capturing history and geography of North India in their films. From the chandni-chowk in Chandni or Punjab's sarso-ke-khet in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge to the northern road and rail trips in Veer-Zaara and Bunty Aur Babli, they have always connected with their roots.
For Fanaah, Kunal Kohli is trying hard to get permission to shoot at historical places in Delhi. Apparently the director has requested permission from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for shooting in places like Lodhi gardens, Qutur Minar, Jantar Mantar and Red Fort. ASI officials are skeptical as the unit may damage the heritage sites as well as attract large crowds who may cause inconvenience. However, the movie may be a good ambassador for showcasing Indian heritage all over the world and can help in drawing tourists and promote tourism in India. We spoke to director Kunal Kohli to get more details on the same but he didn't wish to divulge much detail as the movie is still in its infancy stage.
