Prakash Mehra's best films | |||||
The much-loved producer and director passed away, but he has left behind a legacy of cinema that we can cherish and enjoy even today. Here are some movies made by him that you must see.
|
Muqaddar Ka Sikander, 1978: It was a compelling story about interconnected love interests. Amitabh loves Rakhi who loves Vinod Khanna who loves Rekha who loves Amitabh and Amjad Khan loves Rekha too. The blockbuster had super hit songs like Salaam-e-ishq Meri Jaan, Muqaddar ka Sikander and O Saathi Re, which are Antakshari favourites even today.
Haseena Maan Jaayegi, 1969: Luck shined on Prakash Mehra's hit debut film that announced his arrival. Starring Shashi Kapoor in a double role opposite Babita, the film was a laugh riot. It was the story of two guys who looked alike but were not related and one was good while the other was bad. Bekhudi Mein Sanam is a much loved song.
Haath Ki Safai, 1974: The Randhir Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Hema Malini and Simi Garewal starrer was different from the movies made at the time. Vaada Karle Saajna was one of Kalyanji-Anandji's hit compositions.
Mela, 1970: This film followed the success of his debut film. It offered a double treat in the form of handsome brothers, the late Feroz Khan and Sanjay Khan, and the voluptuous Mumtaz. The rural drama was replete with separation and reunion, caste system, prejudice, bandits, heroes and the like.
