Feroz Khan was a flamboyant filmmaker: Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is aggrieved by the demise of actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan and says the latter will be remembered for his passion and commitment to cinema.
Though Big B never got to work with Feroz Khan during his acting career, he was friendly with the director-producer and recalls him as a "compassionate friend" and a flamboyant filmmaker.
"Feroz Khan…a gracious and warm hearted compassionate friend. A flamboyant film maker, one that in the middle of his acting career became a producer and director and gave us some very memorable films," Big B wrote on his blog.
Feroz Khan passed away on Sunday at his farm house in Bangalore after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 69.
Big B also wrote that Feroz Khan's films bore a stamp of his personal flash and sophistication. Khan's films like Qurbani and 'Jaanbaaz' were high not just on content but also on style.
"What he displayed in his persona, reflected in the way he made his films. In many ways he pioneered a certain flash and sophistication in his very first venture as a maker and that remained with him and all his films throughout," the superstar wrote.
Mr. Bachchan recalled that his several attempts to work with Feroz Khan never bore fruit.
"There were many attempts by both of us to work together, but somehow it did not work out...May his soul rest in peace and may the Almighty give his family strength to bear the loss," the megastar wished.
Amitabh also recalled the recent Stardust award function where Feroz Khan was given the Stardust Pride of the Industry award.
"In a most poignant moment, at a recent award ceremony, where he was honored with a lifetime of achievement, his son Fardeen had received it on his behalf from Jaya on stage - Feroz being too ill to be present," he wrote.
The superstar also remarked that Fardeen Khan is a cultured and well-behaved young man.
"What he displayed in his persona, reflected in the way he made his films. In many ways he pioneered a certain flash and sophistication in his very first venture as a maker and that remained with him and all his films throughout," the superstar wrote.
