Mona Singh and Karan Oberoi are no longer a couple

Mona Singh (Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin) and Karan Oberoi (Band Of Boys) have called off their five-year-old relationship. The couple split a few months ago, but have been rather discreet about it. Only their close friends and relatives know about it.

Mona and Karan were in a relationship since 2004. The two fell in love on the sets of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.

Their split has sent shock waves among industry people. Our source from Bollywood informed, "Of late, Mona and Karan have hardly made any public appearances together. But nobody speculated about their split because they were in a very serious and committed relationship. In fact, there were even reports that they were going to get married in 2008."

Explaining what led to the split, the source said, "They suddenly realised that they were not on the same page and had become incompatible. So, there was no point in having quarrels and continuing with the relationship."

A close friend of Karan disclosed to Mumbai Mirror that Mona and Karan are not in touch anymore and added, "Their parting did not happen on 'let's be good friends' terms."

Karan did not deny his break-up with Mona, but did not wish to elaborate. He said, "I really don't want to speak on this."

Mona agreed that they were not together but added, "I don't want to say anything further."

Later this year, Mona will be seen in Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots co-starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. While Karan will soon be seen in a film, Chhoti Si Baat opposite model-turned-actress Kirti Kulhari.

Ajay Krish of Mamta fame opens up to Telly Buzz, and talks about the state of the experienced actors of television today, who are left gaping for new offers, while new faces seem to be the priority of producers..

Ajay Krish who was earlier seen in serials like Mamta and Ardhangini has been in the audiences' eyes for nearly three years now. But now, the actor finds himself at crossroads, and like many other popular and experienced actors of television industry, is looking for a good offer.

Talking to Telly Buzz, Ajay opens up and talks in length about what he feels of Television today. "Television is now in a very confused phase wherein all are experimenting with various things. After the success of Balika Vadhu, gone are the days when saas and bahus used to rule the prime time slots. We are now at a stage where all want to go behind the social concepts".

Ajay feels that even before Balika Vadhu, Saat Phere started with addressing a social issue of a dark complexioned girl, but that show was picturised quite differently. "Having said this, I have no qualms against Balika Vadhu. In fact, I love watching the show; it is brilliantly made with good original content. Even for the matter of fact, Bidaai has a good story line with strong production values. But apart from a set few, many shows across channels are not coming up with originality", expresses the actor.

In this phase of recession and slow down in economy, the problems that experienced actors are facing is that, they are not being offered a decent budget by producers. "I have been getting so many calls from production houses, but after all the procedures, all I am hearing is that 'We are looking for newcomers' or 'Your budget does not seem good to us'. But being in the industry for so long, we have got to know from inside sources that most of the producers and channels are now opting for newcomers in every new project as they can pay them the minimum and get work done. The thought process is like, 'I can get 3-4 newcomers with what I pay this one known actor'", states Ajay.

According to Ajay, "TV shows should give the viewers a right mix of concept and acting, but nowadays all is getting so concept driven, that there is no value for experienced actors who can carry the show on their shoulders".

"Why is it that Ronit Roy is tagged to be a 'Complete TRP Package'? It is because of his acting prowess and the versatility that he has shown till date. Take a look at various new shows across channels which feature newcomers. Many of them are not doing well because the so-called new faces are not appealing to the eyes of viewers. I am not against the new faces, because I too was once upon a time new to the industry. But my point is that, for any show to do well, you need to have a right mix of experienced actors as well as newcomers. Take for instance the successful youth-based show Miley Jab Hum Tum. They took a good mix of known and new faces, and today they rock as a team!!", vents out Ajay.

Last but not the least, Ajay Krish accepts that all actors need to understand the slow down in economy. "I have also revised my rates as per the situation, but it is really disheartening as we, the already known faces of television feel disconnected from the industry. I am now getting the feel that the span of an actor in television is very limited; I just hope things change for the good because leave alone me, there are so many good actors today who are left with no good show", concludes Ajay Krish.

See that's what I am afraid of. Mona still has a wider audience base and has been successful in all her reality shows, but Apu has always had a dismal run in such shows and can't use them as a back-up in case he doesn't get good roles in serials. It's high time he left the acting grind and pursued his directorial dreams. What on earth is he waiting for???

apu hasnt tasted mch success in reality shws bt all the serials he's taken up r gr8! jst in rkb he wsnt highly appreciated coz his role ws vry less! dere ws little scope for apu to reach the wider audience wid such a short role!!
y wnt apu get gu roles in serials.............i mean hes gt the luks as well as he has prvd his mettle in acting!! there cn be no apparent reason for him not getting roles wrth accepting!! only if he begins to be chosy nd starts to decline offers left n right then mayb we shld be wrried!
as for direction.............welll srry but i dnt want apu to direct😉!! mayb m sounding selfish bt if apu starts to direct we snt be able to see him on-screen😭!! i dnt wnt apu to get lst behind the camera...........i want him to act n entertain nd steal the audiences' hearts the way he alwyz does!!😳😳😳

How many of these did we see in RKB?

Read the highlighted part of the article again....that is the reason I am afraid he won't get good roles. I never said anything against his talent. But the scenario today is that unless you have a Godfather (or Godmother!) in the industry like Ronit and Hiten do, you will either have to do small but meaningful roles, or do crappy stuff with more footage but zero creative satisfaction. Even the second prospect is bleak since it's the newcomers who are being chosen for such roles (no one has any expectations from them).
