Q1. kumkum is the main protagonist alongside sumit entered in a lead role too as they got married and developed understanding. At the start of kumkum it is mainly centered around kumkum and sumit is in a role of a devar (not leading position that time)😉

Q2.kumkum because she is shown as the symbol of a womans strength and how she keeps the family tied also fulfill duties outside marital life (like socially active) Her role is very vital as it sent many moral messages especially the point where nivi accused sumit of rape remember the track? same as aitraaz both had the courtroom scene to end the series👏👏👏

Q3. male role: they would tend to be dominant like handling office and managing financial status of the family n business. like sumit he would tend to make most of his abilities and achieve higher
female: women are proving to handle both family n business especially you can refer to the series where thw wadhwas lose their property and end up living in a chawl. At that time it was kumkum and other females dadi, ma... who started a cater business whilst men were struggling to find job. Women became the lifesavers.😉

Q4 nowadays many are losing the meaning of love support family unity honesty trust faith.Today where do you get to see all this?. a lot of contributions of traditions and respect; Sumit and kumkum have given justice by spontaneous improvisation and not speaking reharsed in front of the camera. Although abstract drama was involved like tracks of jatin and twin of kumkum; chanda. Im not saying it impossible; but yes it is not likely.😛

Q5 male: supportive, insecure, achieving to the fullest of their potential (sorry more than 1 word)😆
Female: courageous, dignified, extremely caring for others than themselves (mainly kumkum)👏

Q6: ok difference... well if as this is very fantasising so we may put ourselves in their place! because we would tend to improve ourselves in terms of personality and those times are gone where you may hear or say: "God watching all this fake" of"its just a character"😡😡😡
well excuse me what we are discussing is far beyond all this. This serial you can relate to life as there 99% of the whole kumkum pyara sa bandhan is made through the use of naturalistic drama technique spontaneous improvisation and not speaking reharsed in front of the camera.
Also many can look at their own flaws and bacome a better desired human beings.😉😍

Q7: kumkum is no way exploited sexually because the scenes and story has been out of this universe but yet kept decent and appropriately.⭐️
Financially bridge bhushan (uncle) his character was shown how selfishly you can betray your family in greed of property from your own family, your parents. And many wrong business decisions taken leading to loss of your own.😲

Socially i would say it has kept realistic. We have seen the reality and the harshness outside wadhwa house and wadhwa enterprise.
The opposites of life.😲

Q8: as you see when kumkum was exchanged with chanda...
chanda was brainwashed by renuk a so that she can take revenge and get a way round sumit.
Kumkum was kidnapped and tortured (ordered to do do by renuka) so that kumkum stays quiet any goes with the flow.😭

Overall the whole family has got unlimited love however kumkum and sumit sumit and kumkum have given remarkable unlimited of strength, love, faith, trust, sypmathy, honesty,
traditions and respect in a relationship which teaches the whole world to keep on dreaming, follow your dreams and live only on the brighter side of life...😃

p.s this is all from my heart
cross my heart...
as i am a expert; qualified in drama the technical understanding comes from there.👏
a-z knowledge of kumkum in my heart...❤️

Ans to Q1: The central character is Kumkum but as the story moves on both Kumkum and Sumeet give equal impact and are percieved as a single unit.

Ans to Q2: Both Sumeet and Kumkum are shown to have equal power though they tend to obey the family elder dadaji's advice but they do sometimes violate his decisions when they feel they are in the right. Even though they tend to be emotionally manipulated they are the driving force behind the family.

Ans to Q3: Most of the male char are confident in that they are independently capable of taking both financial and personal decisions. Even the female char are shown as having no financial dependency as they have equal rights in bank accounts etc. and they actively participate in decision making.

Ans to Q4: Mostly the chars are real enough. Families to tend to be dependent on the most capable persons in that family and there are also self centered and manipulative members in the family. But the negative char do tend to be potrayed as very obsessive and efficient in succeeding in their schemes which in real life is not that believable.

Ans to Q5: Sumeet, Kul, Dadaji, jatin, sharman...Loving caring and decisive
Rahul, Dhruv...weak minded, caring and easily manipulated
Brij---selfish,self centered and very negative

Ans to Q6: KK, Dadi, Abha... Loving, caring and sacrificing types
Veena, ashka......Easily manipulated, loving, emotionally blackmailing type

Ans to Q7: I find that I can identify with KK's love, care and sacrifices for her family, but cannot identify with her hiding facts from such an understanding husband. For example when she escapes from kidnap with the help of chanda , brain tumor, Pretending an affair with Yash. In any of these circumstances if she had taken Sumeet into confidence then she would have avoided a lot of trouble.

Ans to Q8: Sexually.. I believe Abha and Ashka were raped. Vrinda by abhay.
Socially.. Sumeet himself married kK forcefully without taking her permission though his intentions were good. Same with Sharman.

Ans to Q9: Not except during KK's kidnapping and Manik trying to coerce KK.

Ans to Q10: Maybe female as they are given more screen time.

Hope this helps. All are just my views.
Varsha.

Hi Guys,

I am doing an assignment on kumkum for my sociology. I would like to ask if u guys can help me with some of the questions. i would like u to consider the following questions for me ...Thanks so much

Are the central characters male or female, or both?

In my perspective, both the male and female characters are central.

Which characters are shown as being in control or having the most power?

Both the characters have equal control over each other. They complement each other.

Are the male characters portrayed as being competent in their social roles? How can you tell? Are the female characters portrayed as being competent in their social roles? How can you tell?

Again, both the male and female characters have been potrayed as competent in their social roles. As a dutiful wife the female character is very realistic in the way she approaches her husband (male character) with humilty and modesty and yet being firm about her decesions. She is shown as a strong woman, who can both make or break homes.
On the other hand the male character is a perfect husband, whose job is sustaining the home and supports his wife. Again, he expresses his opinion and guides his family.

If the show is set in the context of a central family, are the male and female characters realistically portrayed? If not, why?

The charcters are as real as a television drama can get. A majority of circumstances and situtations are very realistic.

List three words that basically describe the male characters?

Family oriented man, Sensible and Sincere

List three words that basically describe the female characters?

Devoted, Righteous, Independant

When comparing yourself to the main charater(s) of the same sex, what is the difference (if any)? Would you be friends in real life?

Not much, I would certainly befriend the main character, Kumkum.

Are any of the male or female characters exploited sexually, financially, or socially? If so, how?

In my opinion, NO

Is violence used to coerce male or female characters?

No

Overall, are male or female characters more successful on the show? Why?

This is a very unique show in the sense that both male and female roles are both equally successful. The two characters get along well with each other and work together towards a problem.

Hope this helps your project.!!
