Here's an FF for the Mela day .......FF – At the Mela
The D-Day dawns ……….
The festival of lights …….
Buaji & Chaiji are getting things done …...
Kranti's also up early & bright …….
K gets busy ………
Rangoli is ready…..
Filled with colors bright ……..
Lamps in a row alight ……..
The men being men, get up late ……..
They know no time; they know no date ……
Raj is like a fussy child …..
And that drives our dear Kranti wild ……
Finally all are set and ready
To go to the Mela
R looks dashing in a Kurtha of green ……
And K is stunning in yellow & pink …….
In the Mela they all separate …….
The elders go their own way ……..
R & K guided by fate …..
Together they have to spend the day ……
They spend some time roaming ……
They spend some time browsing ……
You cant enjoy and Tis no fun …….
Cos you're enemies with your chosen one ……..
Finally they stop pretending ……
And decide to spend some time resting ……..
When suddenly out of the blue ……..
A photographer accosts the two …….
He smiled and smiled …….
And to get them to pose, he tried ……..
Some ladies threw in helpful hints ……..
That would test the patience of the saints ……..
Raj went red ……….
To refuse politely, he tried ………
But all his excuses ……….
Seemed to fall on deaf ears . ……
Grabbed K's hand ………
And went on to steer ……
Her, into the photographer's den……..
The photographer fawned and fawned ……
R & K most embarrassed ……..
R, conscious and ram-rod stiff …..
K, red and equally stiff ………
Aww …said the man …..
She's your bride, so come closer ……..
Better still, put you hand …….
Across her shoulder ………
Raj obeys like in a trance …….
K's unable to stop the blush …….
That spreads across her cheeks and ears ……..
The photographer sighs, 'Pure romance' ……….
Soon it's over and they're out ……
Hesitant just to wander about ……
When suddenly K spies …..
Baoji & Chaiji under the blue skies ……..
Baoji's arm's around her …….
Chaiji blushing like a bride …..
KB whispering sweet nothings …….
Together they seemed lost to the world ……..
A smile breaks out on K's face …….
"Look", she said, nudged R with her elbow ……
"Ouch", he said, startled out of his wits ………
K asks,"Have you seen anything like this"?........
He look ahead ……….
And turns beet red ……..
He hems and haws ……
"They're so in love and it shows" ……
Before he could stop her ….
K moves ahead with a smile …….
And gets down on her kness …….
In front of the surprised pair …….
Baoji lets go and clears his throat …….
Chaiji's goes red and covers her face …….
K takes Baoji's hand and …….
Chaiji's hand in his she places …….
Holding both their hands in hers …..
She looks straight into their eyes ………
"Tis a marriage made in heaven"………
"I pray you two, are a long life given" ……..
Chaji's touched and shyly smiles …..
Baoji's face is wreathed in smiles …..
He puts his hand on her head ……..
And blesses her with a wonderful life ahead ……
This, while Raj stands there, dazed …….
He's wondering, how she is so unfazed …..
All his life he's never said ……..
Never into something so personal, ventured ………
He walks towards them …….
Not knowing what to say …..
Feeling he has lost his way …..
In this emotional maze ………
"Com'on Raj", his father hollers ……
Mama looks at him with loving intent ……..
K seems very much happy & content ….
Embarrassed he tugs at his collar …….
Baoji draws the two of them closer ……..
And puts his hand over R's shoulder ……
"God give you both a long life" …….
"Filled with love & free from strife" ………
Both of them dutifully bend ……
And the parents feet, they touch ……
Carefully avoiding each other's look …..
Not knowing how to handle this ……….
Soon they were homeward bound ……
Nobody spoke, not a sound ……..
R & K not at ease …..
Analyzing feelings & their thots ……..
What's our future ? …….
K's thots echoed …….
Why do I feel so loved ? …….
Without any thot, how I did venture ? .......
R was puzzled …….
At K's face he looked ……..
She was calm, she was serene ……
Why in me, this awareness so keen …..
It was an uneasy truce …..
They called, unspoken and unsaid ….
Another time, another place ……….
With their private war, they would press ahead ……….
