I think it was Kiya's way of trying to make herself better, her mother makes her feel worthless, all the others in the gang can hold their own against her and infact can by a word put her down. Panchi by being the nice non-retaliatory kind she is gives Kiya the opportunity to make herself[Kiya] feel better.
Is it wrong -yes but that is human psyche for you.Infact there are studies that prove that bullies have low-self esteem.
Infact TBD has shown that KD,Kiya, Ranveer and Panchi are all fractured and vulnerable characters,not the oh-so-cool,everything is perfect people. Even JJ belongs in this category.
