Song of the day today was Manchala from the movie Hasee Toh Phasee. It played in the latter half of the episode with Kunj threatening to kiss Twinkle lest she stop her Mahi jaap. He once again reveals some insight on what is going on inside him. I'm glad that he does so because Twinkle has gone blind her Mahi's love...it's incredibly frustrating and I wish I could understand it so I could empathize with her but I just can't. What I found interesting about today's episode was the way Kunj looked as he threatened to kiss Twinkle. At first, it was clear he was just riling her but then he starts gazing into her eyes deeply and seems to be in a reverie until she exclaims "No". Kunj, then, leans back and blinks himself out of the trance. As the trance happens the music had become playing.
So far, I feel like we focus mostly on Twinkle but these last few episodes seem to be a revelation of Kunj's mind. And these song was ideal to describe the inklings of feelings that are starting to grow in him. This song uses a play on words. The repeating line is "Manchala, man chala teri ore". The singer uses the word "manchala" twice but they signify two differing ideas. The first "man chala" means crazy heart while the second means "going towards" hence the line means "My crazy heart is going towards you" which aptly summarizes Kunj's feelings. While he expresses care that we the viewers can identify as love, he, the character, does not know it. To him, his heart is just drawing closer to his wife.
It goes:
Manchala Mann Chala Teri Ore (x2)
Khamoshiyon Ki Sooraton Mein, Dhoondhe Tera Shor, Dhoondhe Tera Shor
Manchala Mann Chala Teri Ore, Chala Teri Ore...
Manchala Mann Chala Teri Ore
The first line is rather obvious- his heart is getting closer to Twinkle day by day. I've said this about 300 time but Kunj is not someone who expresses himself unless the need is there. So, I think the little things he does for her really prove that he is getting attached to her and that their feelings are starting to get stronger. The second line makes me think of their personalities. While Kunj is funny and light-hearted, Twinkle is the more bubbly and loud one. That distinction correlates to the second line where the heart/guy is looking for the noise the girls makes. It brings back to mind how Kunj was caught off guard by Twinkle's silence and changed disposition during the Maya track.
So, I'm not sure how valid my next "interpretation" is but hear me out...I think there is some logic to it. While this was a Twinkle and Kunj scene, Mahi's useless self was embedded in it.
The first verse goes:
Kabhi Gardishon Ka Maara
Kabhi Khwahishon Se Haara
Roothe Chand Ka Hai Chakor
Zara Se Bhi Samjho Kaise
Yeh Parhez Rakhta Hai Kyun
Maane Na Kabhi Koi Zor
Duniya Jahaan Ki Bandishon Ki
Yeh Kahaan Parwaah Kare
Jab Kheenche Teri Dor, Kheenche Teri Dor
This verse saying how the heart has faced many difficulties and failures and is looking at the moon at who it is upset. It goes on to say how can you understand something/someone if it keeps you distant all the time. Then, it switches up too how it doesn't care about the pressures of the world nor does it care when someone pulls its strings. I think this applied to Mahi and Twinkle SO well. Twinkle has faced countless difficulties and failures since Mahi's entries, she's desperately trying to prove Yuvi's badness yet is not able to. Twinkle is upset at the moon (which I think could be Mahi) because Mahi keeps Twinkle so distant from herself that she refuses to listen to her or understand her perspective as Yuvi's ex. And then we have Twinkle who still does not care for Mahi's dismissal and continues to save her future even when Mahi asks of absurd things like touching coal (last two lines).
Another way I saw this verse was between Kunj and Twinkle. Kunj recognizes how vulnerable and desperate Twinkle is at the moment given the multiple negatives she has faced. Yet he is unable to understand her and why she's so desperate because Twinkle keeps trying to distance him with her multiple requests to be left alone. However, Kunj trudges through all that and reaches out to her. Another meaning is soley focusing on Kunj's POV and how his heart is brought down at not being able to help Twinkle because she keeps him distant however his heart strong and doesn't care for how Twinkle keeps pushing him away.
Next Verse:
Rookhi-Sookhi Dil Ki Hai Zameen
Jaane Kahaan Gum Hui Nami
Meri Ummeed Hai Teri Baarishein
Ke Sehta Hai Waar Pyaar Ke
Tujhe Har Baar Haar Ke
Seekhe Phir Bhi Kabhi Nahi Saazishein
Ho... Tere Liye Aaj Khud Se Hi Bhaage Hain
Himmat Ke Tukde Bator
Ho Bhaage Zamaane Se
Chup Ke Dabe Paanv Jaise Koi Chor, Jaise Koi Chor
This verse is talking about how the heart is barren for unknown reasons but hope lies in the other person's rainfall, how it faces the blows of love after facing defeat and despite that it does not try to be deceptive. But, for the person's sake it is ready to leave quietly.
The Twinkle and Mahi interpretation is about how Twinkle's heart is kind of bare and how Mahi could make it better. If you think about it, Twinkle has lived her whole life thinking her sister is dead and now she finally gets her back. She must have had such high expectations on bonding (think of what she told Kunj about wanting to gossip and share clothes). However, she is now left with a bare heart and only one person who can fix it all. If you think about it, Twinkle's personality has changed too (she smiles less, is more stressed out, etc.) which ties into the first three lines. It goes on to say how the heart faces the blows of love and even after finding the person after difficulty, it never tries deception. This reminds me how Twinkle puts up with all of Mahi's mistreatment yet she never tries to trick her. She's been clear in her ways of trying to expose Yuvraj (the video, the girl, etc.). The last few lines remind me of the Canada plan to silently move away.
Now, with the Kunj and Twinkle, I think it focuses on how their relationship has been rather tense these days and how helpless Kunj has been. His only hope to fix himself is to get Twinkle to smile and be herself again. He's said multiple times that he cannot see her upset as it directly affects him. The part about blows of love and the difficulty in attaining remind me of how much Kunj had to do to "get" Twinkle (all the nonsense with Yuvi).
Alright, all done. Thank you reading. I apologize for the length. Please let me know what you think though, especially about the Twinkle-Mahi thing. It may have been a stretch, haha.
