TOI: Touching moment at Times Sqr-Times Sqr

Shailesh Lodha, the the well known poet–actor aka Taarak Mehta of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma was recently invited to New York as a guest of honour by an International Association of Doctors.

The association had organised a two-day conclave in New York last week. Shailesh, being popular overseas was forced by the audience to tickle their funny bone. Instead he gave them a hilarious evening with a teary-eyed finish. His emotional rendition of one of his famous poems made the tough doctors reach for their handkerchiefs.

The short trip was made memorable by a fan who accidentally spotted him at Time Square. "A lady came running towards me at Times Square and started crying incessantly. She told me that her daughter had fallen very ill and she happened to go through his poem Betiyan on the net, which helped her to get through that traumatic period. I was very touched," he reminisces. Certainly, emotions have no boundaries and who knows it better than our very own Taarak Mehta.
