The next morning everyone woke up early and did Puja.
Naina and Nirmala were serving everyone breakfast. Meghna was sitting near Dadu with the babies cradle next to them. Karan and Arjun were looking over at the babies and making silly faces to make them smile.
Rohan: Me and Surbhi have a viewing for a house today.
Surbhi: Yeah, we wanted you to come along with us Naina.
Naina smiled: I would love to.
Rohan: Awesome , we should leave soon
Surbhi: Ayush Di you want to come see house?
Ayush nodded no: I wanna see Baby.
Surbhi smiled: Okay , you stay here with Choti Maa.
Ayush: Choti maaa..
He walked to Meghna.
Meghna: Hey Ayu.
Rohan; Surbhi and Naina left. Everyone else was sat in the living area.
Kunal: Okay so when do we plan for the wedding?
NK: You children decide.
Karan: Can we?
Meghna: We'll need Masi Maa's help of course.
Sandhya smiled: Of course.
Meghna: Bare in mind that they wanted something small.
Dadaji: I'll call the Pandit and find an auspicious date.
Khyati: We should plan it for next month.
The next few weeks went with planning the big day for Surbhi and Rohan. The wedding went ahead without any problems. Rohan and Surbhi moved out of Chauhan house along with Ayush. They had been living at their new place a week before the wedding. Meghna was well again and had started working at home while taking care of the twins.
It was a Friday afternoon, Naina was in the kitchen making tea for everyone when she got a phone call from Karan who was making his way back home.
Nainn: Karan, you're driving, you shouldn't be talking on the phone.
Karan: Offo Naina! I'm not holding the phone or anything.
Naina: Still, your attention should be on the road.
Karan: My attention is always on you.
Naina was smiling.
Naina: Where are you now?
Karan: Just a few minutes away.
All of a sudden Naina heard a crash.
Naina: Karan?!
Naina dropped the cup she had in her hand.
Meghna was passing the kitchen and heard Naina, she ran in.
Meghna: Chiku?
Naina was holding her phone: Karan?! Karan?!
Meghna went to Naina.
Naina: Are you there Karan?!
There was no answer from the other side.
Naina dropped to the floor, Meghna pushed her away from the broken cup.
Meghna called out: Kunal!
Kunal came rushing in.
Kunal: Naina? Meghna what's wrong with Naina.
Meghna: Chiku was on the phone to Karan and he isn't answering.
Naina: Crash.
Kunal walked to Naina.
Kunal: Naina? What did Karan say?
Meghna: Chiku was calling his name.
Naina: Di... I heard... a crash.
Naina had water coming out of her eyes as she sat night Meghnas embrace.
Kunal: Let's go find him.
Meghna and Kunal picked Naina up and made their way to Kunals car.
Meghna explained to everyone what had happened.
Kunal was driving the car while Naina and Meghna sat at the back. Kunal as driving when he came across a group of people huddling around some new.
Kunal: I think that's him.
The three of them got out and ran to the unconscious body that was Karan.
Naina fell to Karans side.
Naina: Karan!!
Kunal: Meghna you hold Naina back and I'll get Karan into the car.
Meghna held Naina while Karan was placed in the back of the car by Kunal.
Naina was sitting at the back of the car with Karan lying on her lap, she was holding onto him. They drove to the hospital and the other family members came apart from Khyati and Arjun who were with the twins.
Karan was taken in. Naina was sitting down with her Di and Maa. The rest were pacing up and down. The doctor came out and Kunal went to him.
Kunal: Doctor , my brother?
Doctor: He is still unconscious, if he doesn't wake up in the next hour he'll fall into a coma.
Nainas heart was breaking, she got up and walked to the doctor.
Naina: Can I sit with him?
Doctor: I..
Naina: Please?
The doctor nodded his head yes.
Naina wiped her tears away: Thank you.
Meghna was holding Nainas hand.
Meghna: Everything will be fine, okay?
Naina nodded her head and walked not and sat with Karan and was holding his hand.
Naina: Karan? Why?
She looked at him. She was looking at how delicate his face is when he sleeps.
Naina: Wake up for me Karan. For me?
Naina put her head onto Karans hand.
She sat there for 20 minutes when suddenly she lifted her head up and a tear dropped onto Karans hand. His hand moved. Naina saw this and called his name.
Naina: Karan?
He moved a little more.
Naina: Karan?
Karan shot open his eyes.
Naina: You're okay!
Karan looked at Naina and then pulled back his hand.
Naina was confused.
Karan&Naina: Nurse!!
They both called out.
They looked at each other and then a nurse walked in.
Nurse: Ma'am you'll have to leave. Naina walked out.
Meghna: Is he okay?
Naina looked up at Meghna.
Naina: I don't know Di.
Nirmala: Naina?
Naina: He pulled back his hand away from me.
No one knew what to say.
NK saw the doctor come out.
NK: What's going on?
Doctor: Karan asked why Naina was there.
Dadaji: What? Naina is his wife.
Doctor: Uncle , I asked him what he remembers last and he said he remembers Kunal and Meghnas wedding day.
Sandhya: You mean to say?
Doctor: Unfortunately Karan has lost almost 2 years of his memory due to the accident.
Naina was stumbling but Meghna held her and sat her down on the chair.
Naina: Di?
Meghna: Chiku...
Naina: Karan forgot everything?
Meghna: Chiku...
Naina started crying: He forgot me! He forgot our relationship and our wedding and... and everything else!
Naina put her head on Meghnas chest who held her close.
(NOTE:I WAS LISTENING TO JAG SOONA LAGE AND IT GOES SO WELL AS BACKGROUND MUSIC WITH THIS SCENE!)
Nirmala and Sandhya were sitting on the other side , Nirmala was also crying.
Dadaji was on shock and almost fell but NK and Kunal held him.
Dadaji: We've lost him again.
Kunal went to the doctor.
Kunal: Will he ever be able to remember the last 2 years?
Doctor: Yes, but it will take time and you can't force it on him.
Kunal nodded.
Doctor: If you want to see him then you can.
Kunal: Okay , thank you.
The doctor left.
Nirmala: I want to see him.
Kunal held Nirmalas into the room.
Meghna: Chiku? Don't you want to see Karan?
Naina nodded her head no: I can't.
Meghna: Why Chiku?
Naina: He... he won't... Di things will go back to the way it was.
Meghna: Back to what way?
Naina didn't want Meghna to know about how Karan nor Naina really liked each other and tolerated one another in front of people for show.
Naina: Di , you know.
Meghna: No I don't, but I know you need to bring him back.
Naina: How Di? He doesn't know that we're married and ...
Meghna: Chiku , I know you'll be able to do it.
Meghna wiped Nainas tears away.
Meghna: You're my strong and brave Chiku.
Naina smiled: I am. I will bring him back Di.
Meghna: That's like my Chiku.
In Karans room, Kunal and Nirmala had gotten in and Nirmala went to Karan. She was about to hold his head but Karan moved his head out of the way. Nirmalas hand was in the air and then formed a ball and she put her hand down.
Nirmala: How are you feeling Karan?
Karan: I'm good.
Nirmala: We were all worried.
Karan: Who's all?
Kunal: Mom, Dad, Dadu, me, Meghna,Masi Maa, Khyati, Arjun. And most importantly Naina.
Karan: Well I've got a lot of questions after that long list of names. Who on Earth is Arjun? What is your dad doing worried about me? And Naina? Why is she even here?
Kunal: Karan, he's our father! Mine as well as yours.
Karan: He's only ever made it clear that he has 1 son, the great Kunal!
Kunal couldn't say anything.
Nirmala: Arjun is...
Nirmala looked at Kunal.
Kunal: Hasn't the doctor told you yet Karan?
Karan: About my memory loss? Yeah he has. I wanna know who Arjun is and why Naina was here in this room while I was unconscious.
Nirmala: Arjun is you brother and Naina...
Just the Naina walked in.
Naina: Naina is your wife.
The three of them looked at the door.
Kunal and Nirmala smiled at Naina.
The words echoed in Karans head.
Karan: Wife?
Naina walked to Karan.
Naina: Yes , this Sindoor and Mangalsutra is what makes me your wife.
Karan: I married you?!
Naina: Yes, you did.
Karan: Why would I do that?
Everyone walked in.
Dadaji: You did Betaa , in front of everyone.
NK: You might not remember it but trust us.
Karan scoffed: Trust you? I don't think I can.
Sandhya: You can trust Bauji and Nirmala.
Karan: I can.
Naina: Then take their word.
Karan: I'll need evidence.
Meghna: When we get home, you'll see everything.
Karan: When do I get home?
Kunal: I'll go and sign the discharge papers.
An hour later Karan was getting ready to go home. Everyone got into their cars. NK, Dadaji, Nirmala and Sandhya in one car whilst Kunal, Meghna, Karan and Naina in one. Karan sat near the door making are Naina wasn't close to him.
When they got home everyone walked in Khyati ran to hug Karan but was stopped by Karan himself.
Karan: Khyati, you know I don't like all this.
Khyati was confused: Bhai?
Karan went up the stairs and into his room.
Arjun asked: What's wrong with Karan Bhai?
Kunal explained what had happened.
Khyati held Nainas hand: Maa sorry Bhabi.
Naina: It's okay Khyati, he'll be back to normal.
From upstairs Karan shouted: What happened to my room?
Everyone exchanged looks.
Naina: I'll go.
Naina went upstairs no their room, Karan looked at her as seen entered.
Karan: What are you doing in my room?
Naina: OUR room.
Karan was sat on his chair holding his head.
Karan: I can't share this room with you.
Naina: You'll have to.
Karan sighed and took a deep breath. He got up and started looking around.
Naina: What are you looking for?
Karan: My umbrella.
Naina: Why?
Karan: I don't leave the house without it.
Naina: Where are you going?
Karan: Need some fresh air so I want to go to the garden, anymore questions?
Naina went to her cupboard and took out the umbrella and handed it to Karan who snatched it out of Nainas hand and walked out.
Karan was downstairs in the front yard, it was late night and he sat outside with his umbrella open.
Just then Meghna approached him.
Meghna: May I?
She gestured at the chair.
Karan: Be my guest.
Meghna took a seat opposite Karan and had something in her hand.
Meghna: You wanted evidence of yours and Nainas wedding, so I brought this.
She gave him the photo that was in her hand.
Karan took it and saw him and Naina in wedding attire.
Karan: That's all I get?
Meghna: Karan , the doctor said we can't force an memories so slowly you will find everything out.
Karan: I doubt it.
Meghna: I don't.
There was a few seconds of silence.
Karan: So, what happened in the last 2 years?
Meghna smiled: A lot.
Kunal then came and held Meghnas shoulder.
Kunal: It's feeding time.
Karan was confused: Do we have a pet or something?
Meghna and Kunal laughed.
Meghna: Karan! We're parents, to twins.
Karan: Oh.
Karan felt bad.
Karan: I didn't. ..
Kunal: Didn't know, we know.
Meghna: Well , if you want to see your niece and nephew feel free to drop by in half an hour.
Karan didn't respond and Kunal&Meghna left.
