I used to really enjoy SSEL. Being of a critical nature, I always found something I didn't like, but there was enough in the story and in some of the characters to keep me watching. Maybe some of us misinterpreted what would happen eventually, and maybe we had expectations regarding the characters that were cruelly dashed. And maybe that's our fault, not the cvs' or the writers'.
The question here is what is this forum for? Is it only a place for fans, for those who love the show or, even not loving it wholesale, want to protect it from criticism? Many of the forum members both praise and moan. Some only praise, while some, nowadays, find little to praise, so we criticize or make fun. Isn't there an AT for unadulterated praise? Then why is it that when someone says something heartfelt on the main forum, especially someone who fans think will be easy to shut up, there are the kind of remarks Taha's post invited? I loved this forum, it was such a friendly place. Now it's like there's a LOC between the negs and the posits. It's the forum that suffers when you try and keep people out--it's half dead anyway.
This not to start a war or an argument, it is for us to discuss what's bothering us. We 'negatives' are not your enemies, nor do we hate SSEL per se. If I did, I wouldn't bother to come here. I DO very much dislike what's been happening in the show and to/with our favorite characters, so where do I take that? I go off watching from time to time, but I still want 'my' SSEL back. The irony, I think, is that so do most of the positives--you are tolerating it, maybe with more grace than we have, but are you all happy? And if not, how. are you putting this across strongly enough to make the cvs know that just any rubbish will not do? A few tweets? How easily satisfied are you? The writers seem to know that if there's too much muttering, a YuvAni scene will send half the forum into dreamland, giving false hopes of "the love track is about to start" (helped by Tripathi's lies--he's said exactly this months ago too), so we could say such fans actually encourage cvs to go their merry, illogical way and control fans' objections with a bit of YuvAni. For me, sometimes those scenes are nice, but sometimes totally meaningless.
Sue me--I want a story that's halfway realistic and makes some sense. If I can't have all characters tailored to my desires, as none of us can, neither do I have to silently tolerate aspects that grate on me. Why should I not complain? The same way that when you all love something I don't it doesn't mean I have to come and tell you you SHOULD NOT like what you do, how does anyone think she/he can tell a dissident not to voice their opinion? Just as at most I will disagree on a 'positive' post when I have a different perspective, feel free to disagree, not try and shut down someone.
