Welcome Back SSEL.You did it again!
What an episode - as the caption suggests today had it all. I type this as I breathe a sigh of relief...
Sugar = Suhani and Yuvraj scenes.
Spice = the "shudikaran" pooja debacle i.e. Suhani vs Dadi. Ding Ding Ding!
As a feminist, as a person rooting for equality for women, I cannot begin to explain how ecstatic I was for today's episode from the word go - there was no messing about. Ganga Jal is considered pure and Suhani left no stone unturned to find out why it was being required in a pooja which was meant for the happiness of two individual's forthcoming marriage. As soon as she clocked it, Suhani was there - this pooja won't happen.
What I LOVE about this show is that they challenge these backward thinking narrow-minded biased concepts, it's not about the shudi karan - it's about the detrimental treatment between a girl who is being brought into this house and the youngest and favourite son who already lives there. That's all the difference between the two people. Had Soumya been Dadi's own granddaughter would she ever think of having such a pooja in the house? Probably not. I suffer this discrimination at the hands of strangers (Who pretend they have "my best interests") on a daily basis. Thank god, none of my immediate family pay heed to their ignorant words.
Everyone needs a friend like Suhaani and hats off to the presentation of the issue today- "I'm not sayin it's wrong Dadi, but if you want it to be performed, Yuvraj has to partake aswell". Boom. Boom. POW!
It was endearing to see Saurabh's clear hurt and disappointment at being lied to by his grandma, let's not forget these are "real" relationships we see and I was glad that we're witnessing a change in the attitude of the family members who have previously kept mum over Dadi's insolence. Ironic isn't it, the eldest and allegedly wisest member of the Birla household is the one whose clearly out of her senses!
Applause again - for when Suhani clarified to Soumya she did everything for humanity. As fans, we appreciate these quirks of Suhani Birla - how she won't take any rubbish sitting down. I for one, agreed completely with every single aspect - I doubt it could have been any better. I'm glad Soumya was shown her place but she still didn't get it - everytime she and Dadi say something, all hell seems to break loose on the show and I find myself cringing. The mindset is what needs to change, says Suhani, it has nothing to do with wealth/ your social status. Btw, is it just me or did anyone else find it really awkward with all the innuendos/insinuations being made during the pooja with the "Soumya phele kisi aur ke saath thi..." "Tumhare aur Yuvraj ke beech mein aisa koi rishta nahi tha"...Had to be done, but seriously there was a panditji sitting there 😆😳
Jokes apart, I thought the episode couldn't get better - how wrong I was.
Suhani. Yuvraj. "Saaawareee!"
I loved the hold on Suhani's shoulders - how Yuvraj "didn't care" if anyone saw them - that would have been a picture if Dadi had come out and actually witnessed them😆 but I was so so grateful she didn't. It was simply perfect - the words, the appreciation, the awe. It's nice to see that Yuvraj is encouraging and applauding Suhani finally for speaking against Dadi's twisted ways. How many times have fans come to rant here about not a single person speaking up for the truth??? I used to find myself cracking my knuckles in frustration - Suhani is right!! Support her! Yuvraj would remain silent. A painful silence which left Suhani empty, helpless and alone. Today, we see some more character development. "Maybe maa is right (did he really say that?!) there have been enough Ragini's and Meneka's in the Birla household in the past...now it's the era of Suhani Birla". We realise, Yuvraj isn't going to let Suhani leave the Birla House so easily, there will be compulsion with fierce, unidentified feelings and longing involved (both for her and him!😳 - the road ahead appears promising folks! )Yes, very happy indeed! 👏 CVs = take a standing ovation or two!
I think more than their scene I liked the fact I'd been pleasantly surprised they'd not shown anything in the "coming up" sections during the ad breaks. This hit me like a great big yellow school bus. In one of my previous posts I mentioned how CVs will utilise this time between Soumya-Yuvraj's marriage prep going to the dogs and Suhani's potential exit from the Birla House, to develop feelings within Yuvraj for Suhani - rather the acknowledgement of them. It's a clever ploy with them not being in the same room either, as "distance makes the heart grow fonder" and sure enough, there's Yuvraj, usually one to sleep early, sat staring into space as he mulls over this thoughts, finally picking up his phone and texting the object of his distraction, Suhani "So gayi?".😳 She replies, also wide awake, "H" 😆
They're such a phenomenal and yet underrated pairing. The 6-30 time slot suggests so anyway but hopefully with these sorts of episodes I hope the show increases in popularity and garners more attention - it's pretty educational stuff right?
The text conversation at the end also reflected how far Suhani and Yuvraj have come. There was a double meaning in Suhani's words during the pooja actually - the pain that was in his eyes when Meneka called out SUhani on her marriage "you two don't even act like husband and wife". Suhani put her in her place "we've fulfilled our responsibilities and commitment to one another fully, you perhaps aren't aware but even now we are together". It's that moral support that wasn't there before - the Yuvraj who hated Suhani and hated himself for it, when he realised it wasn't who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Instead today, we have our two leads with conflicted feelings. Wanting more in respect of the meaning of their presence in each other's lives and yet doubting themselves "Yeh maine kya bol diya". It was terrific to see how the understanding has also increased with their bonding as both Yuvraj and Suhani were seen smiling in a melancholic way at each other's sweet considerate words. You know when you complete a jigsaw puzzle - all the pieces fit together smoothly, easily - that was today's episode for me. There's always this feeling of everything being dragged or rushed with this show - scenes which don't add up/ make sense/ aren't needed. Today was nothing like that. I felt as we'd progressed, I felt as this was a masterpiece.
Main vari jawan (Sad version) sealed the deal. And how expressive can the eyes be, we found out this evening. Looking forward to some more great stuff. Exciting and wonderful and meaningful scenes!
