^^I totally agree with this. I have seen the good and bad side of this. When the celebrity who we support gets a buzz, we all feel good, but i think it was a bit fair and equal, but nowadays i see a lot of unfairness in this too. Some celebrities get continuous buzzes.

buzz system is always biased... i posted it on first page itself but seems like Vijay has decided to avoid it as he may not have any logical answer for this

3) If there is a cap and if its only unique views that counts, there are more possibilities of an actor with more number of active fans getting more views too..but there is "no hard work"..isn't it? as you are looking for more unique views..not more frequent views...there can be people who are not there in FC still browsing or searching, but I think probability would be less...

1) Views for the images are overall impressions the image recieved since it was uploaded. And for ranking we just count the Impressions for that particular week for which we are computing the Ranking. I dont think there is anything wrong or misleading there. The system consolidates Raw Impressions logs every 1 hour. Regarding articles its computed based on views + comments so there is already a check there so that is the reason we have not placed the Unique IP check on the article page.

2) Well I cant give the exact Cap value but its related to the average pages viewed by a Unique IPs for that Celebrity.

3) Well we give "unique views" more importance compared to "frequent views". We do count all views whether its members, non-members, someone who just came searching about the celebrity.

First of all the ranking system is a weekly one and not an yearly one so we felt we should also have the Buzz factor the actor has created in the media.

The Buzz points are not just based on our inhouse team but also includes IANS news which is syndicated by many other popular News portals. Lastly its Buzz weightage is quite low (10-15%) of the overall ranking points.

Ideally we would like take it even further where we can add more news providers but there are a few legal issues and certain limitations due to which that has not happened.

Asking again since you seem not to notice my questions.

1) The view counts that are published for each pic & each article - should we consider that valid or not? Do you mean to say that the actually counted viewpoint for a picture or article for ranking may be less than the published figure? Or should we consider the difference between the published view counts at zero hours on one monday and the next as the total valid views for that particular pic or article for that week?

2) Is it possible for us to have the view count in all sections? May be you can just add one count per section? Please consider this as a development area since you are trying to clarify and yet transparency in viewpoints is still an issue to solve.

Thank you for this FAQ regarding celebrity ranking.
I had asked a question in the initial thread about how fan points are calculated. Your answers suggest that it is based on the number of active fans who log in to IF on a weekly basis, after the first week they create the account.

But there seems to be a mismatch between fan points/comments & view points of the top two celebrities.
How can a celebrity with low view points have disproportionately high fan points and comments compared with the fan points & comments of the celebrity with the highest view points?

Could it be possible that a celebrity can have active fans who just login everyday and put their 2 comments? This contributes to the fan points and comments, but these might be coming from multiple IDs.

That explains why a celebrity with less views has way more comments & fan points compared to the celebrity with the highest views, but lesser fan points & comments. These inflated fan points & comments might be coming from the multiple IDs, who obviously can't contribute much to views because it requires more time & effort than just logging & dropping in 2 comments.

Do you have a check in place for these MIDs who are created only to increase comments & fan points?
