It is said than Once Meghnath defeated Indra , the King of Gods , his Lust for power grew manifold and he wanted to capture the whole world right under his feet , and he was supremely confident of doing so as he had already defeated the king of Gods.
He went to naaglok to capture it and waged a war against Serpent King Vasuki , who rules Naag log as a defacto ruler in the absence of the real king , Sheshanaag , who had passed on the duty of king to vasuki and had gone to live in vaikunth .
The reason for Meghnath attacking Naag Lok was to actually marry sulochana , as Raavan had got to know that if Indrajit marries a pure soul / Sati , she would act as an invinsible shield for him
Meghnath was more Powerful even than ravana , being trained in divine weapons by the Asura Guru Shukracharya , who was not on good terms with Raavan but he liked and respected meghnath a lot as his student. Meghnath Knew about enemity between his father and his guru , so he trained under him in secrecy , which was the real reason of him being considered moe powerful than ravan .
Obviously , Vasuki was no match for Indajit , and he accepted defeat and offered his daughter Sulochana fo mariage in return for sparing of Naaglok
Sulochhana , though resistive , had no choice but to agree for the welfare of her praja.
So the marriage was not on good terms actually , but they later become inseparable as a couple as their married life progressed.
It is said that due to this humiliation , Vasuki Cursed Meghnath that he shall be laid slain when the serpent King Shesha takes avtaar on the earth as a human .
