Death - The final destination

Life is a question without any answer
Death is an answer without any question.

Today Ram rightly said that as soon as one is born death becomes certain. Death is the ultimate truth of life and as per Hindu beliefs the timing of death is predestined. Ram also said that all we can do is console ourselves by thinking that the person is free from the complexities of life. That again is true, death in a way frees the person from all pains and sufferings, from all wants and desires.

However based on little that I know about life I will say death itself is not as painful as it's consequences. Even to the loved ones the amount of pain it causes depends largely on timing of the person's death. For eg my great grandfather who passed away two years ago at age of 106, his death was obviously painful but not unbearable. On the contrary sudden demise of a friend's parents brought me a great shock. With these examples I only want to tell that impact of someone's death depends on how easy it is to accept the demise of the person. For me it was easier to accept death of my great grandfather than to accept death of my friend's parents.
Now coming to consequences, death may seem more or less tragic depending on the age of the person. To me death of my great grandfather was not tragic because he has successfully fulfilled all his responsibilities but my friends parents passed away few months before the marriage of their first child. That not being able to fulfil the responsibilities adds to the intensity of the pain.

Lastly I believe the sudden demise of a loved one irrespective of the age causes more pain than the one for which we are ready. The reason again being the same 'acceptance' it becomes impossibly hard to accept that someone who you saw in good health just few moments ago has passed away. Also sudden death brings a feeling of regret, regret of not being able to take the person to hospital, regret of not being able to say things you wished to say etc.

I'll end the post by saying that with death of a loved one a part of you too goes away that will never come back.

@Sumedha nice post and well analyzed. Yes in certain cases we accept the eventuality. But in certain cases it is sudden. Especially in cases of accidents, terrorists attack etc. Suddenly the space is filled with a void that cannot be replaced. But then it is the truth.

Thanks 😊
Yes the sudden or unexpected death is more painful. I remember when news of my friend's parents reached me it shocked me enough to give me a restless night. It was a painful reminder that how uncertain life is.
