@Veena the principles of Harry Potter are not different from Ramayana or Mahabharatha. In Harry Potter JK Rowling highlighted love, loyalty, friendship, giving and all the noble qualities of Harry and his friends.

And in our epics divinity ruled keeping aside the love between Ram-Sita, Ram-Lakhan, Ram-Hanuman, friendship of Sugreeva, vibishana with Ram and the inter personal relations.
And MB while talking about war never highlighted the beauty of friendship between Krishna and Arjuna. Abhi's selfless sacrifice on day 13.
In talking about Dharma and Adharma we missed on the beauty of relations. That is why our epics are ancient and religious while Harry Potter sells like hot cake.

More or less the path towards moksha is self realization , any person who finds it leaves to become a part of of that divine energy

Ravan is just like those people of present day who are educated and belongs to good family or I could say so called reputed family and commits crime ,use their power in wrong way and in wrong places ,those who covered themselves with sheet of aroogance ,selfishness ,cruility ,
Just like ravan as he was devotee of lord Shiva ,very wise (he was wise but never respected that ), today's criminals who are educated never respect what they have .

@Charvi freewill means " I" own the action. Whether good or bad I own it. Freewill matters especially in failure. Even if our decision does not give us favourable result we own it. We do not blame circumstance, destiny, papa, mama, etc etc and will completely look inward for the failure.
Freewill does not reverse Karma, but it helps you control something on which you really have control. Your action.
If you look evil people anyone Raavan, Shakuni, anyone they all are using freewill. They want certain things, they will go any extend to get it. Doesn't matter what the world things about them.
And if you look at good people the problem with them is that their actions are based on what others will think, what their dear and near one will think, what society will think etc etc.. So in certain circumstances the good people take actions to please society when their conscience is telling them something else. Classic case: Bhishma silent during Panchali vastra haran in MB. For showing to society your steadfastness with vachan, to keep your image you take decisions over and above your conscience. Their freewill is compromised. You appear selfless, but you are not selfless.
So learning to use your conscience in the most tiring circumstances, learning to act than react to evil using your freewill can only defeat evil. I mean you have to really selfless. Take action that is justifiable for you, it may not be justifiable to society. Don't worry about result. Just concentrate on that action and own it completely the same way evil does.
Because evil's biggest victory is in the people who appear selfless but are selfish. Evil cannot stand in front of real selfless people.
