Neil & Devyani

Something has been bugging me though and I wanted to have a discussion about this current storyline, I hope some people will join me.

So far I think they've done a good job with this storyline, showing how Neil used Devyani and how she's trying to remain strong. I especially loved her calling him out on the double standard between men and women and how when men dress a certain way they're cool but if women do the same they're called any number of negative things. I appreciate that while they're showing Devyani strong to the public they're being realistic and in her quiet moments alone we get a look at just how difficult this is for her.

So what's the problem? They seem to be doing a great job.

The problem is the standard Indian television show formula. I'm sincerely interested in how many of you, after all of this - seeing what Neil has done to Devyani, seeing the mental and emotional toll its been taking on her, seeing how broken she is - still want Neil and Devyani to work through their differences and be together again?

For me personally, I don't know how anyone, especially women, would want to see these two end up together. When Devyani picks herself up and is a stronger person for all she has been through I believe it undermines everything she's been saying and all the progress she's going to make to then put her back together her with her abuser. I'm all for her forgiving him - by forgiving him she can move on, maybe they can even re-establish some sort of a friendship, but to be in a romantic relationship with someone that caused her this much pain and turmoil I cannot fathom.

Devyani is the strongest female character on this show, I would not like to see that compromised for a love story. I'd like to see Indian television do something different than the standard - guy and girl like each other, guy uses love to get revenge from the girl, abuses her (verbally and/or physically and/or mentally), guy realizes he does love her, girl forgives and forgets, guy and girl get together and audience is supposed to forget all the a use the girl suffered at the hands of the guy.

I don't think Devyani needs a love interest but if they should start a love story for her it needs to be with a new guy. Then Neil can have epiphany he wants but he'll know better for his next relationship.

(I'm not even talking about Minty's involvement in this whole thing, but I do not have enough words to talk about all that is wrong with that character and how much I dislike her - she's not even a likeable villain, just an extremely stupid one).

Anyways, I really want to hear what other fans thing about this. Do you want Neil and Devyani together after all of this? What do you want to happen? If you do want Neil and Devyani together, what's you're thinking around that?
