A unique tale of two friends
After a long hiatus, writer turned director Janardhan Maharshi is directing a full fledged feature film, titled "Devasthanam." A huge fan of director K Viswanath, Janardhan says he's been dreaming about working with the veteran director for a long time. "I was inspired to become a filmmaker watching K Viswanath's films like "Sagara Sangamam" and "Sankarabharanam". I've always wanted to work with him. I am also a huge fan of singer SP Balasubramanyam . To be working with two such idols is quite incredible," shares the excited director.
The film is the story of two friends who come from diametrically opposite backgrounds. "K Viswanath plays the role of a trustee of a temple. He is an extremely pious man and the temple is akin to home for him. SP Balasubramanyam plays a middle- class man who believes his home is his temple. How the two friends deal with their different world views forms the crux of the film," says Janardhan.
The film has been shot extensively in Chittoor. The director seems to have high hopes from his film. "We have incorporated art forms like Harikatha and Burrakatha in the movie. I am planning to send it to film festivals as well," says the director. The film is scheduled to hit the screens in the first week of February.
