After setting records at the Kollywood box office, the Venkat Prabhu-directed Ajith-starrer Mankatha is doing roaring business in Andhra Pradesh as well.

The film, which was dubbed into Telugu and released as Gambler has been a hit with the audiences there.

Gambler's success should be another eye opener for Telugu film industry. The film dubbed from Tamil is doing brisk business across Andhra Pradesh. Last Sunday, in Cinemax the movie had two shows and was running house full for both. Incidentally there were three other Telugu movies in the same multiplex which had tickets to spare. The Ajith-Trisha starrer is actually a slick rehash of many commecial potboilers that we have seen. But the difference is in the fast paced editing and treatment of the subject.

Gambler is currently at No.1 position according to the BO reports for the first week and had a huge opening at all centres, followed by Kandireega starring Ram. Gambler team is so happy about the opening in Telugu. Producer Bellamkonda Suresh happily says that the movie is creating new records in AP Box office.

Actor Vaibhav is keeping a low pro file these days. He isn't seen much in public and avoids Ajith fans. This will continue for another few weeks, till the Mankatha fever subsides. Now that Vaibhav has punched Ajith in a scene in Mankatha, Thala fans are warning him wherever he goes. 'How dare you touch my Thala?' is the question he's often asked.

In Tamil cinema, where heroes are worshipped like demi Gods, Vaibhav has taken a risk by hitting Ajith on screen. He says, "When I was watching the film in the the ater, in the scene where I hit Ajith, I heard Ajith fans screaming. When they saw me they warned me not to do it the next time. It's ok, I know they do it out of love for Ajith. I too hesitated to hit him in that scene but Ajith was very sporting!" On a lighter note, when asked if he would ever hit a superstar again, he laughed and said, "Never, not even if the character demands it!"

Rumour mills had it that the 'Mankatha' director will pair again with thala Ajith and come up with a multi-starrer featuring him and Silambarasan! It was also expressed that a big banner will be producing this film featuring the duo. It may be mentioned in here that Simbu is a die-hard Ajith fan.

When IG contacted Venkat Prabhu he rubbished these as mere rumours and expressed that he hasn't thought of any such script or casting.

As 'Mankatha' is basking on its success, Venkat Prabhu will be throwing a party to his assistant directors and other members of the crew, thanking them for helping his venture in tasting double success at the BO, in both Tamil and Telugu.
