I have a feeling that you are right - the skeleton is that of Birju - and that he had probably been killed by Shakti. Birju must have witnessed Shakti trying to molest Sujata and hence was put out of the way by Shakti. Dadi may or may not be aware of all the facts, but the extent to which she behaves like a fanatic, makes me suspicious that she knows Shakti is alive.
