Shana, yes their prem kahani is twisted and all relationships are convoluted
But Saras Kumud relationship doesn't seem wrong for some reason .
I mean look at the quadrangle of Saras Kumud pramaad kalika
1. Saras Kumud - they both have accepted the marriage as a reality. They have redefined their relationship and pyaar ko dosti ka roop de diya.
No maryada is ever crossed between them. He is the only person who is aware of the full ugliness of pramaad kalika situ and is her strength.
But Saras as repeatedly pointed out by smrth has no locus standi so his presence will lead to fingers being pointed at Kumud and sawaals being raised.
For as Vidyachatur said, it's not so much about personal maryada, it's the maryada of the world that is being broken.
2. Kumud pramaad - a rishta made for all the wrong reasons by both. A rishta being denied and abused by pramaad, and being upheld also for the wrong reasons.
Duniya ki maryada is being maintained but every time pramaad comes close to Kumud we flinch too because his motives are impure.
3. Pramaad kalika - a rishta in which both are two consenting partners, marriage is not wanted by both. They both have other interests which are served by continuance of this rishta.
They unlike Kumud and Saras, do not show any personal respect for each other, each exploits the other.
Show no respect for the changed equation ie marriage, in fact completely disregard it and flaunt their affair in Kumud's face, as their right
Yet they demand purity from Kumud as even the ex is not tolerated, while they carry on shamelessly.
Kalika has a reason for her presence in pramaad's house, so no duniya ki maryada broken, but personal maryada - non existent.
So when we talk about illicit love - I don't think it is Saras Kumud love that is illicit, it is actually pramaad kalika love that is illicit, for it refuses to accept the boundaries set by pramaad's marriage.
Yet, as we sadly know, it will be Saras Kumud love that will be made badnaam, though they both respect the institution of marriage and are upholding it, even if it is a farcical one.
