Saraswatichandra serial story is based on a Gujarati novel by Govardhanram Madhavaram Tripathi, an author of early twentieth century from Gujarat, India. It is widely read Gujarati literature. The supernovel was written over a period of 15 years, with the first volume being published in 1887 and the fourth one in 1902. The novel, written in five parts, narrates the lifestyle and ideology of people in the early 20th century. It depicts the social fabric of that time: extended family life and the beginning of the meltdown of old customs and traditions.
Saraswatichandra story is a dramatic love story with a sad ending. Saraswati the male lead is indifferently raised by his step mother and yet he grows up and becomes a compassionate person who has lofty ideas and decides to do without his personal happiness without informing his father, who fixes his marriage to Kumud an educated girl from a rich family. Saraswati decides to cancel the engagement and writes to Kumud to inform her. But soon she replies and soon the two keep on exchanging letters. Soon Saraswati decides to defy the customs and pays a visit to his fiancee. The two soon serenade and a short lived romance takes place.

Kumud Marries Rich Prabhat 🤢
Saraswati returns home after promising Kumud and her family that he would return. However, on his return a family feud takes place and Saraswati writes to Kumud that he is not able to marry her. And unfortunately Kumud is being forced to marry a rich person Prabhat,who is a very shrewed,dishonest and cheap person. Kumud somehow manages to live with him who has external affairs. But circumstances are build up such that Prabhat's father come to know his deeds and made Saraswati as his secretory who have left home and this way Saraswati and Kumud once again meet.

Kumud and Saras Reunite
Saraswatichandra wants Prabhat's actual face to come up in front of everybody because of which he gets kidnapped but somehow some holyman rescue him and he gets saved and started living in a temple.
Meanwhile, Kumud's old lovers love letters get disclosed and her husband blackmails her to leave and go and stay at your mom's place. This forces her to leave home and she tries to commit sucide but some holywomen saves her life and takes her to the same temple where Saras lives. They both meet once again and Saraswati starts believing they both are made for each other but Kumud can't have the same as she wants to go back to her inlaws but she doesn't know that she is now widow when she comes to know this she says she can't be of anyone now. And wants Saraswatichandra to get married to her sister Kusum ,but he refuses and tries to convince her. And the sad ending of the story comes as Kumud convince him saying that if he wants her to be happy so marry her sister and he agrees for the same.

Saraswatichandra Serial story Star Plus:
Saraswatichandra Srial is debut serial of ace director,producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It's story is being inspired from the famous Saraswatichandra Novel and film. In the serial the male lead Saraswati character is played by Gautam Rode and female lead Kaumd's character is played by Jennifer winget. Kumud's sister Kusum's role is being played by Shinny Doshi. And Saraswati's step mother's character is played by Monica Bedi.

Saraswatichandra is a black-and-white Hindi film released in 1968 and was the last Bollywood movie to be made in black and white. It starred Nutan and Manish in the leads among others and was directed by Govind Saraiya. Saraswatichandra Film got many awards which includes 1969, National Film Awards; Best Cinematography award won by Nariman Irani; Best Music Director award by Kalyanji-Anandji and 1969, Filmfare Best Dialogue Award by Ali Raza.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali Saraswatichandra Serial Story
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has adapted Gujarati novel Saraswatichandra for his TV show, admits some changes have been made for the story to suit the medium. "It is an adaptation, so we have adapted the novel in a different way. The beginning is not the same, its story does not begin from where the novel starts. So, such changes are necessary," as Sanjay said about his show. "In today's scenario, if we are interpreting the novel in our own way, then we will incorporate some changes in it and will keep some aspects of the novel as they are," Bhansali added.
