@arshi
thanks for your gesture and a privilege to get your endorsement...
you have better respect in this forum & am ok with the current way it has been posted under your 'byline' so to speak..

@happychappy
nope..this is the only forum I am part of...
there's a set of super folks & conversations going on here all the time...so really do not have any reason to check elsewhere...

...and this post was a response on arshi's CB thread...where it is becoming somewhat of a tradition now for some of us to congregate & pick each other's brains on the nuances...

i wanted to get a better understanding of trps..and the best way was to follow the money...

...many of us who love the show tended to disregard trps...and end up cursing the makers / cast / SLB / SP etc...

I posted it coz I realized that like it or not...trps are central to the enitre industry's money flow...and there is no free lunch...

...and when trps ruin a show they follow George Carlin's maxim "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." ...

...also posted it because I finally am starting to appreciate the guts of SLB to define a new vision even in such a setting and the lead pair (most of all) and the cast for delivering such magic under all the stress they must be under nowadays...

bottomline for me personally...small logic ki vaat's , small inconsistencies for trps are all maaf...as long as the essense of the show and treatment remains consistent...

Ya she posted it in CB and I felt it was so good, it deserved wider reading!

I too feel SC is in a different league and hope it doesn't pander to TRP so much that the essence is lost!

I am so sorry, I guess I just didn't think about this, didn't even check your profile, and went with the common assumption.

PS, I should have caught on, no girl will give herself a name like that ! 😆

in that case, arshi, can you edit and include text of that post here in ur main topic instead a link? For that may afford us a topical discussion here, independant of an episode analysis that we have on CB. There is lot to discuss here, for an average. sporadic viewer like me, marketing aspect of such unique product is fascinating learning..

From Kaadal
@hotdogg, a thorough analysis of the show in response with the TRP. When a story is tried to be taken in a different way, that too a love story the crowd doesn't seem to connect with it so quickly, I have seen the same happening with IPKKND and by changing the story mid way and with hurried shooting back to back, the essence of the story got lost in middle. The actors got tired of the long shoot timings and the lead quit. SLB seems to have started the same, trying to revive the TRP's for the show but only good thing is hasn't compromised the uniqueness of the show still. I don't know if you had seen IPK, the episodes were mostly dependant on the leads and the other characters side lined to keep up with the TRP game. This week's episodes made me think, history is repeating. I still can't understand whose mistake it is. Maybe the crowd is too varied, one looking for romance and the other saas Bahu or social issues. Satisfying both is not easy. Having a script written tightly with both combined hasn't still worked out. Majority of TV crowd is still sadly behind the typical masala saas bahu shows and TRP's reflects exactly the same.
Ether the whole media concept has to change or the people's mentality has to change. Converting the story of SC into a show needed guts, SLB wanted to do it, he is trying but all depends on if the crowd accepts the same or the channel allows him to do the same. He seems to be getting crushed in this TRP game and now long running of SC depends entirely on TRP. But like you said now looks like he can't afford to get Kumud married to anyone else, he will lose the existing viewers as well. I almost wish he had taken a movie instead of making it into a show, atleast we would have got to see the real version like Devdas and it would have run successfully as well. Who knows SLB might be regretting his decision by now. Great actors, best sets and wonderfully taken but still...really sad.

I think Kaadal, it's too early for such grim predictions, but yes, SLB will have to be use all his ingenuity to balance both sides.

I wish we had the seasons concept, you know, a lot more attention gets paid to quality that way, and actor burn out is not there!
