Exactly what I was planning to say! I always thought it was simply because he knew his father never actually cared for him, (and his flashbacks confirmed this) and so he HAD to defy him. Also, his father's horrible choice for a 2nd wife, made him believe that he would most probably find someone just as derranged and devious..I don't blame him at all. Why SHOULD he give the right to choose his partner to his "DAD".

Ur options r very interesting!! Option 1 appeal to me!! On a serious note I think Saras is not willing to get close to anyone emotionally after losing his mom with whom he was so close!! The poor doesn't want to swim despite living in the sea which is impossible. He is made of flesh n blood n he has started realizing it after seeing Kumud. He is already in love n connected to her emotionally. He has not answered but he will. Hamare SaMud like to answer questions a tad bit late. He will answer when Kumud least expects it!!
