I agree with your post! I think a lot of today's shows are so fast paced... within a few short months they lose their essence. Suddenly romance scenes don't really excite me because if the plot doesn't "drag," as we're deciding to call it, they aren't worthy of being shown because an exasperating, unrealistic plot always seems to correspond with them. And that's what I think the definition of a tv show losing it's essence, its core drive is.
But I think because the plot is so heavy, it's daunting. And in order to be heavy, it's important to show everyone's emotions. I think a lot of shows overdo emotions, yet only touch up on them in a superficial way. Saraswatichandra is really acing at keeping its essence, keeping us connected to it by really giving human reactions to all its developing characters, and allowing itself to play out beautifully. If it's slow now guys, it's bound to get better. After all, slow and steady wins the race! 😊
