I agree Neither Parul's nor Sara's steps were clean and sharp..
Eyes and hands must have a clean coordination and the body must move according to the mind!
See I am not comparing or offending any1's post here...Plz dnt feel so..Just want to clear something ..Parul is not a trained dancer and neither is Sara.So we cannot xpect a clean and flowless performance in the real sense...

you are very right...but I am very hurt because this is a professional show and then they are showing a dnace competition and highlighting it as one of the biggest dance competitions. Thus at least some right movements are needed for the two leads....

Chakkar is the main thing in Kathak. Also when Panditji used to teach us, the first lesson we got was to use hand and eyes moving together . we used to be given example that as we write, out hand and eyes move together, same is the case in dance also...
it was really very disappointing...

That's called hand eye coordination. That is in fact the first thing they teach you even before the first step. Your eyes should follow your hands. I learned Kathak in US. My teacher even today is very particular about these basic stuff although I have done tarana.

^^Its natural to get hurt.As a dancer we'll view in that angle only..Even If a small note is not sharp...We feel awkward..And tries to find the flaws in every step..
But this competition being a classical allows western dancing also ( as Sanjeeda's is a western and classical mix ) ...And both Sanjeeda and the other one ( Sry 4got the name ) are one of the best dancers and when Ragini and Sadhna are competing with them ...So their Dance shud be much better than them to win the other two.. I am looking forward to it 2mrw..Let c..How their outcome is

Thank you fo such a lovely post! I am a trained dancer (15 years of Kathak) and was sorely dissapointed. I know that creative advantages need to be taken, for example, I think my guruji would have slapped me if I had said I wanted to perform on a film song, and with 3 days training dancing etc is a little bit too much, but still, at least they should show some nice graceful dancers yaar to essay these roles.

Well, at least one thing is proven, both Ragini and Sadhana are on the same level of dancing (even after Ragini's claimed trained dancer image), so if Sadhana wins, there is no reason for anyone to say, what the heck, how did she win. 😛
But really Bani, seeing those movements today, mera dil ekdum toot gaya ki these guys can make Kathak look so graceless.

I started my Kathak at the age of four. did for 20 years, then trained also. I held the highest marks r in the Chandigarh junior diploma of the Pracheen Kala Kendra allover India, I learned from Guru Bandana Sen, Guru Anuradha Guha, Guru Susmita Misra and also had to some extent from Panditji.
I was really shocked today.
actually, the girl who played Dolly was a better dancer, if I remember correct,.
