Mamaji has had no problems fighting very publicly with Vasu in the past. When his son and daughter was being threatened by Vasu, Mamaji was very active and protective of Vinu and Ragini, his own kids.
When it comes to Sadhna, the man is not quite such mahan father figure. He had no problem making Sadhna a paraya in one day for her marriage to Alekh. He felt bad later, sure, but do you see him doing the same thing to Ragini in the same situation? Ive never once seen him scream or shout at Ragini for anything, the way he did to Sadhna.
And now, with Mamiji, this is hardly new. Shes been a B***CH to Sadhna all her life, so Mamaji had plenty of opportunity ti teach her or threaten her or do SOMETHING. If shes such a good wife and mother, why cant he use that to teach her to be a good mami?
The issue is not that he is helpless, because he got Kaushi to agree to Ragini's wedding, and that vicious creep of a woman was also hell bent against that. Its that he doesnt want to create problems at home and Kaushi is an unpleasant woman and he just lets her get away with making Sadhna miserable, which he would never tolerate towards Ragini.
I think if he was constantly telling Kaushi, like Inderjeet ALWAYS does to Vasu, that she is wrong and awful and cruel, that would go a long way to keeping Kaushi's vindictiveness and cruelty in check. I do believe that he doesnt like Mamiji's behavour, but hes not going to do anything about it because Sadhna isnt his real daughter, no matter how much he claims she is. His actions (or lack of them) speak louder than his words.
