I give up. This serial will not let me be the silent reader anymore.

There was a time when wednesdays used to be special; eagerly awaited. There was magic on the small screen - be it shashank-Smriti, Rahul-juhi, they weaved the subtleties & nuances of love like never before! Not to mention the dynamics of Rahul - simran- her dad with stellar acting and dialogues that came to you like darts!
But all good things do come to an end. 😞

But coming back to the topic - what have they done to shashank?
From a most dignified iconic character ever on a Hindi soap, he is reduced to a love-struck caricature caught in an unrealistic illogical love story.
All the loopholes in the present story has already been pointed out by other members.
But shashank baring his heart out to his mentee, in a cliched scene during a power blackout in a prestigious hospital ? And how can he seemingly been always in love with Juhi, that would mean the time he was married/ reconciled with Smriti ? It spoils all the good memories we have of the senior couple in season 1 :- theirs was a very matured romance done with great elan!
I don’t recognise this shashank - the one who goes with a torch behind Juhi to confess his love, or the one who keeps stealing glances with her.... and when he threw those flowers on her publicly, they made him appear like a thadki old man desparetely wanting to score. Really?
I wish mohnish behl would walk off from season 2

The debonair doc with quiet dignity topped with super skills and a killer smile - yes, he made that wait for wednesdays worthwhile 😊

Can I have my shashank back please???

In sanjavni 2 the way cvs want to portray Dr shashank character like that he want Dr juhi as life partner this thing never shown in sanjavni

It is really shocking cvs deliberately want to present wrong image of Dr shashank that he use to love Dr juhi

r. For me he was best supporting character who is shown to be very sincere, honest and responoble toward his duty and family. Dr shashank character was iconic character at that time

I really want cvs not to play with Dr shashank character. And want cvs should continue showing Dr shashank as sincere responsible like they have shown in sanjavni 1

So much word to this post!

I may not have grown up watching Sanjivani as a child, since I didn't have access to Indian shows until after it had gone off-air and its not-sequel-turned-spinoff had started...But I did find my way to it about 10 years ago and it has stayed with me ever since. Some characters and some performances just leave such a strong impact.

Sanjivani may have been framed as the story of Juhi Singh's journey, but Shashank Gupta had his own journey in a parallel story that was more intriguing and engrossing to follow, for all of the reasons you've mentioned. And that particular story, for the most part, was so well-written and the nonlinear narrative was fascinating because it delved into both Shashank and Smriti's minds so that we could understand them and the intensity of the love that they shared.

Mohnish and Iravati as Shashank and Smriti became my favorites almost instantly because of how brilliantly subtle and layered their performances were. Such powerful actors with an incredible, effortlessly spontaneous chemistry together! What they had is truly inimitable.

Along with the many impressive well-known actors in the senior cast, I also gradually grew fond of the new young cast - Gaurav and Mihir, Shilpa and Rupali, of course Gurdeep and Sanjit - they were all so sincere and it felt like they were all living their roles, not acting in front of a camera. Even the hospital felt like home.

I was also a silent reader around here for a while...I broke my silence only a few times because I also tried giving this new show a chance for the "nostalgia characters" and felt like I had to provide some clarity on the Sanjivani universe for the uninitiated, with episodes for reference (Sanjivani Retrospective). But it's so frustrating to see that, even though this is an unconnected (so many details from Sanjivani have been changed, it seems like a completely different universe) reboot that keeps using/warping footage from the original show, it's not doing Shashank or Juhi or even Anjali justice as characters in this new context. And it's certainly not giving Mohnish and Gurdeep the scope or depth to really show their prowess as actors. Those of us who have seen Sanjivani know exactly why Mohnish became a household name and why Shashank Gupta is so RESPECTED and LOVED. Complex character and stellar actor with a strong foundation of writing to work with! What he's being given now is a criminal waste of talent - and that's not even getting into the characterization. On that note, I just want to thank you for this post because it's truly torture knowing that this is the second time such an iconic character is being ruined by its own concept creator. And now I'm off to recover by watching my favorite Shashank-Smriti-Anjali + interns scenes!

Pata nahi kahan se producer ko galat fehmi ho gayi ki log Dr shashank and Dr juhi ko ek romantic couple ke roop mein dekhna chahte hain

At least those who has have watched sanjavni 1 they would never want Dr shashank and Dr juhi aise romantic couple

Pata nahi kya soch kur Dr shashank character ko juhi ka lover dikha rahe hain jaise public khuch jaanti nahi hogi public ko peechli sanjavni season 1 ki story yaad nahi hogi to koi bhi dialogue ko change karke dikha do khuch bhi dikha do and we will easily accept it

If they are thinking such thing then cvs highly mistaken we remember very well character of Dr shashank in sanjavni season 1 he was one of most ideal character not a loose character. So this form of loose character of Dr shashank can't be accepted in sanjavni 2

We want same Dr shashank like he was portray in sanjavni season 1

Yes... absolutely... Dr. Shashank should be shown as the same ideal, iconic and responsible character who was an amazing doctor and a very sensible and ideal human being. This time they are destroying his character. They should think about it. If they had to bring out some new story they should not have brought the old characters back. Bringing the old chracters and rebuilding those is destroying the memories of the old, familiar and ideal characters of Dr. Shashank and Dr. Rahul.

Unfortunately they've already cut & compromised the character's arc, as Dr Shashank is amongst the few characters that is used for recall & reference from S1,the first promo with him walking through the hospital corridor & Sanjivani whistle tune- brought back sharp nostalgic memories, to reconnect with the loved charaters of Sanjivani S1, despite this being a reboot certain cuts are beyond consonance, conformity, apart from ongoing - apparently Dr Rahul too is now a new grey

During this season atleast a deep reflective journey was necessary( possibly after Juhi's dinner invite) to sync & make sense, raising more questions than resting with answers ,the writing fluctuated capriciously it didn't really clarify with consistent continuity it confused with abrupt unceremonious confirmation .

Dr Shashank's character is analogue an adequation to Sanjivani, the substratum that held everything & everyone, upright, to have him showering flowers at Juhi 😔as the confession still lacks mutual consent, Juhi looked apprehensive with trepidation, her former comfort and confidence undermined & suspended around her iconic idol ( the deferring looks purposeful to serpentine the twist to track)

Particular construct around the new background needed a gradual careful senstive development with legit mature writing, that has foundered in haste .

A much needed post..

They had already tried to butcher this character in DMG but not considering that.. I was also trying to pint out the drastic change in the character and how they have twisted its past and are trying to change his very nature as well.. The image that Shashank of S1 and the respect that character had is fading day by day..

So please let us have Dr. Shashank of S1 back please..

There was scene where Dr shashank talking to Anjali ki chalo so jaaao mujhe tumarahe mummy ko khaana garam karke dena hai tumhari mummy thak gay hain

Though Dr shashank was also tired but there is no male ego in him and understand that his wife also work hard and get tired and he bring food for Dr Smriti with care and love

Dr shashank was very understanding towards her daughter and wife Smriti

Don't know why cvs want to spoil understanding and caring nature of Dr shashank as father by giving wrong information that he use to love juhi

This is quite an interesting post for someone who hasn't watched the previous seasons.

I'm confused as to what if accepting Dr Shashank's version of how his attachment to Juhi has evolved from the years they worked to the years apart and now the reconnect with her saving his life is a direct contradiction to the past. One can always evolve in feelings and I doubt it's about principles/ethics of a mentor-mentee relationship at stake. To draw a direct connection to their relationship in S1 with the current scenario seems to be a bit off the point in terms of framing the argument against their relationship.

Although granted that there could've been a much better build-up and rationalising process of this "mature lovestory"; it now looks like Shashank is focusing on proving to the world than himself/Juhi about the rationality of their own relationship. Naturally, there is good opportunity for Vardhan-Anjali vile attack of Shashank.
