again,there was a talk show on this issue where RK was invited on NDTV-hindi

1.One of the panelist's said that 'v dont get inspiration/prerna of doin bad things just by merely watching shows/movies.If that was the case then there would be only SOORAJ BARJATYA films released :)

...& vice versa, also,that bad people dont start behaving good after watching serials/movies with good message.

2.One of the opinion expressed by a politician is that 'y dont they start making reality shows on army,navy etc'

--- my opinion for the 2nd point would be that, it is a very good thought n idea BUT.....it is all bussiness and all about money.

THey r concerned about trp and they r not running a charity show and hence mayb they invite most of the celebreties rather than the common citizens who r in real need of money,cos who would want to see common citizens everyday (KBC was an option cos the HOST was THE amitabh).

THere was a reality show on NAT geo channel on army which ran for couple of seasons i guess,then nobody came out with that kinda stuff,so the media was sure through its research n survey that most of the audience is PERVERSE about knowing the dirty secrets of others,gossiping,fights,bitchings,affairs etc......So INDIAN audience wants that then they shall have it.

So it is thus proved that not star tv,not siddarth basu etc r responsible for this kinda reality shows but we the perverse AUDIENCE is soley responsible for this.

Smart guy like basu is not a fool.his quiz shows etc r so intellegent,u think he would go for this without a survey?...NO!!...he must have approached startv with reality show of army,navy etc..start tv must have told him curtly that v have conducted the research and desi audience doent watch that...kuch masaledar lao!!!!

So AUDIENCE(which includes me)...if u say u dont want such shows on desi TV, then change ur taste.....prove to the media that we'll not c such shows like sach & jungle.

They'll by default change the nature of the shows.

For e.g there r so many capable intellegent directors in 'mumbai film industry' who would make movies with the likes of akira kurusawa,bergman etc...but when they approach producers/distributors they say what is this shit?!!!.who would watch this?

They say - I want kareena,katrina,akshay then foreign location,skimpy dances..thats it.

Now y they demand that?!!!...cos the audience demands it.

STOP waching these kinda movies,change ur taste...the quality of our movies will change.

That is y they say that INDIAN movies have spread their wings to the west,but have not yet captured the western audience.

I.e the iranian,german,korean movies have been welcomed by the audience all over the world,they die to watch it with subtitles,but nobody would want to do that for desi movies.

of course i'm happy that slightly that trend is changing with people like - anurag kashyap,Nishikant Kamat etc r doin their best.

I recommend u people to watch the french movie 13 TZAMETI...it is a movie released in the year 2005.black n white movie.Fabulous.Check it on imdb for review.

Now i heard that the MOVIE luck!...was based on that.so i went to see it & then yelled WHAT THE LUCK! (hope u got that)...

i left it in the interval.

I think our industry should adapt such screenplays,no probs in that,but give it justice yaar!!

When i watched 13 Tzameti i was inquisite about when a tealented director would remake this in hindi and this LUCK! ,,happened.Hope some1else would try to do it again giving it justice.

Well the later part of the writeup was not related to this thread,but i'm a movie buff so couldnt stop writing...i hope u dont stop reading halfway though my write up.

**Now i dont know id this falls in the reality show bracket but there is a show on marathi cahnnel AEE MARATHI where the host asks the paticipants GK questions.The prize for the winner is that the show pays the amount for the LOAN he/she has taken.No celebrity is invited here.

Now thats wat i call a reality show where u get rid of ur REAL problems :)

rambo55, good post.

Im unable to make up my mind if it should be banned or not but going by the points you have posted , seems the opponents had more valid points or perhaps came more prepared. They make more sense , except the last point. (imo) Culture, Sabhyata and Heritage is a different issue altogether and I never understand what people mean when they say "This is not our culture"

I wonder why there should be always copy from other western reality shows, being it SKS, BB, etc.......?.........

Why no original ideas?, which fit the culture instead of copying other shows from other countries which has not the same culture, it would effect for sure..........

I wish they copied something could help, not make things even worse, thought things r already much worse than it is there.......

I don't think this show should be banned, the people who find it offensive, have the option of switching to another channel. There are tons of other channels where they may find something to watch at the time SKS is being shown. Also, the guests on the show are well aware of the kind of questions they are going to be asked, so they know what to expect. They need a lot of courage to do so and if they are willing to speak the truth on national television it is their prerogative. Who are we to stand in judgement of anyone. I think there are a lot more serious issues in the country rather than debating on whether a show needs to be banned on tv. Like I said, if they think it is too much for them, simply turn off the tv or switch to another channel. Also, why is something like this looked at so negatively, can we not think of this as a learning experience. Are we not all human?

I have not read all the comments here, but I am sure my thoughts may have already been voiced by someone on the forum, so please bear with me.
