PRASAD FAMILY
SHARDA PRASAD
52 years old Sharda Prasad also known as 'Bada Babu' is a dignified who holds his principles and respect highest and objects to corruption. His good upbringing reflects in every aspect of his personality. For him, money and materialistic pleasures don't hold that much of importance.
Sharda promised his ailing father to marry his two sisters in good families as well as to lead an honest and respectable life. He is a hard worker who acquired a degree and thereafter took up a job of a clerk in Rajya Path Parivahan Nigam (State Transport) and was later promoted as a head clerk for his dedication to his work. Despite all this, he is the laughing stock on account of his principles and honesty for not only outsiders but also his own family members. Due to this, he has become quiet, but when does talk, he says profound and inspirational things.
MALTI DEVI
Malti Devi is Sharda Prasad's wife and is completely in contrast to him. She is greedy, loud and has a dominating personality. She is known as the 'The man of the house' and has a strong control over the family matters.
She intimidates her husband who cannot utter a word in front of her. She believes in dreaming big and constantly accuses her husband of having ruined her life with his honesty and the resulting poverty. However, Sharda quietly listens to whatever she has to say but does exactly as he wills. This annoys her beyond description. Her biggest reasons for sorrow in life are her honest husband and her 3 daughters. The thought of their marriages perturbs her and for this too, she doesn't fail to blame her husband.
RAJESH PRASAD alias Raja Bhaiya
Rajesh is the only son in the family and hence quite pampered by his mother. His mother lovingly calls him 'Raja' and he is known by the outsiders as 'Raja Bhaiya'. He wants to become a police inspector just like his 'Mama'. However, he is poor at studies and fails every time in exams. Her wishes to fulfill his dream by paying a bribe of about 8-10 lacs but is unable to convince his righteous father. He gets along well with his mother and they both passionately ridicule Sharda.
Since his Mama is an Inspector himself, he gets along with him and considers him his Godfather. His mama also aspires to get Rajesh into politics. Despite all this, Rajesh is somewhat a responsible person and is quite devoted to his family. He is concerned for his sisters and wants the best for them but feels helpless due to his principled father.
BINDIA
24 years old Bindia is well educated, principled and an average looking girl. She has graduated with an Arts degree and is seeking admission in a university for higher studies. She is charming, elegant, subtle in nature and extremely responsible. Apart from studies, Bindia has a liking for knitting, embroidery and does everything with ease and interest.
Her average looks have been a hindrance for finding her a suitable match from past 4-5 years. Besides this, since her father doesn't have enough money to pay for her dowry, this has become a sore point in their lives as they fear that Bindia might pass the ideal marriage age. The constant rejection has made her very quiet, complex, scared and a non-confident person. To divert her mind, she always engages herself into studies and her hobbies, but her mother and elder brother continue to discourage her for studies. Their constant nagging and bitterness dejects her further. It's only her father and her younger sister who support and encourage her to move forward in life.
POONAM
Poonam is the second Sharda and Malti Prasad. She is bubbly, vivacious and gets along well with everyone in the family. In comparison to her elder sister, Poonam is fair and very beautiful. She completely adores her elder sister Bindia and also sympathizes with her situation. She is well aware of the problems the family is facing due to her elder sister's marriage and this has made Poonam very bitter about relationships and marriage.
Apart from Bindia, Poonam shares a very warm and friendly relationship with her father. She respects her mother and her elder brother Raja too and understands their frustration and pain. But at the same time does not accept their behavior towards Bindia.
VINAY SINHA
24 year old Vinay is a tall, handsome and extremely roguish son of the Sinha family. Being the youngest, he is pampered by one and all not only with love but also with a lot of money which he squanders without a thought. Vinay's only motto in life is to freak out and have fun, which reflects in his lifestyle and routine. He feels that work and struggle are just not meant for him, which has culminated to have no focus in life whatsoever.
He has graduated from a reputed college and spends most of his time with a big gang of friends as well as eve teasing girls passing by. He usually gets away with everything as his elder brother's bails him out from any problem every time. The only person who doesn't pamper Vinay is Vimlesh. He asks Vinay to get focused and serious in life and this ultimately leads to their fallout. Vinay shares a strong bond with his eldest brother, Akhilesh due to his unrelenting support to his aimlessness.
But despite all this, Vinay is not bad at heart like his father and eldest brother. Surplus wealth and ceaseless pampering has overshadowed purity within him that eventually begins to surface and bring about a positive change in his life.
