Hello there,
I have recently started watching BV and like catching up on the show before it is available to watch here in the US, and unlike most forums on IF, there seems to be a ban on discussing the show before the written update is posted which is very very late, it feels as if the written updater feels they should be the only one posting about the days show, if thats the case they should do a timely job of it,
seems pointless to visit the forum if theres only going to be old news,

Hi fatima,
First off, welcome aboard 😛 ~ I am glad to see new members participating in the forum and it shows that the show is definitely getting popular as time passes by. So please continue posting 😃 ~
It appears that you have some misconceptions about the forum. So let me clear the concerns that you've voiced out as above. I thought that it would be easier to list the points here so that you can get a clear picture of the rules & regulations of the BVD forum. At any point, if you have further concerns, please feel free to pm me about it and I'd be more than happy to assist you 😊 ~
1. Every daily soap sub-forum on I-F has certain members assigned to do regular updates. Be it video or written updates. For written updates, there are volunteers who sign up for this task and work diligently towards it. For this reason, they are given the title of "Coolbies". Our forum has two coolbies: mona & cimba. Besides them, Raee has been kind enough to provide update for one day of the week as well. The reason behind allowing only ONE detailed and written update is because our updaters spend time to put them forward for all members to read. They obviously watch the show to cover all important angles and then make an effort to post the update here. So it is certainly not fair to them to spend so much time deciphering an episode and posting them here only to find out that another fellow member has penned down the gist of it already. The concern is that while some members may feel like they can provide a "timely" update, they are not bound to provide written updates on regular and consistent basis. This is why all members here wait for the coolbie to post a detailed update. Moreover, it avoids repetition of similar threads of episode summaries as well to keep things organized. There's certainly no ban being imposed by doing so 😛.
2. You had mentioned about the "timely manner" in which coolbies should be posting written updates. I take pride in the fact that our forum has got some of the fastest coolbies here who have provided updates to us in a very timely and efficient manner. However, there are times when other commitments may hinder them to do so and the updates get delayed. Most of them do put up a warning if the written update is going to be delayed so that members can be prepared for it. We have to remember that our coolbies are volunteers and are doing us a great favor by posting written updates on daily and consistent basis. They are certainly not obligated to do so but have been kind enough to help us out. There are times when they are unable to do so in which case the backup updater responds. So we need to be patient and appreciative of the task that they do.
3. One thing that I wanted to mention here is that at any point if a fellow member feels like the written update has been delayed and they have pointers or highlights or summary of the episode to share, please feel free to do so under the
"Daily Episode Analysis Thread". This thread is a sticky and has been created so as to discuss the episode at length and share highlights and views from the episodes. Many a times, our fellow members have posted highlights of the episode there in advance of the written and detailed update. So it is quite a helpful tool to utilize. Again, you won't see highlights there all the time since it is up to a member's discretion to post it there or not. But its quite a helpful thread to use in this respect 😊.
Another way to tackle the delay is to ask the permission of the updater by sending them a pm. If a member feels like they can fill in on behalf of the updater on a particular day since the updater will be posting the update late due to other commitments, then they are more than welcome to pm the relevant updater and ask for permission to post the update.😛
4. Lastly, the forum is not only designed to post written and video updates of the show but also to share with fellow members other aspects about the show. For instance, discussions, contests, promos, other news reports, articles, pictures, creations, video mixes, etc are other areas that may interest a BVD viewer to check the forum out. I understand that your interest lies solely in written updates, but that certainly is not the only aspect of the forum that is enjoyed by others. Please know that the updaters do their level best to provide updates in a timely fashion and do a darn good job at it. Patience is a virtue. So in times of a delay, we should exercise a patient and appreciative attitude towards them 😊 ~
Please be assured that most sub-forums on I-F have it in their rules and regulations to not post separate threads asking for an update and to wait for the respective coolbie/assigned member's update. So this is something that is certainly not restricted to the BVD forum.
Anyhow, please pm me if you are not satisfied with the clarification about the rules pertaining to written updates. We all come here to enjoy and celebrate a show that we like and it is certainly not the intent to drive members away from it. 😃
Thanks.
Sana~ (BVD Dev Team)
