I feel when he defended her chance to get educated he has an ulterior motive of separation wants she is less vulnerable, but the press article has Nazim saying he only did that because she genuinely wanted to learn, analyse that article some more and try and gauge where the CV's are with his character.

In front of people he still treats her like she is not there, at Urmila's house, she opened the window and told him to go, he glanced away from her then got up and went to the window, but when there are alone in the bedroom he answers her, when she speaks to him. He drove her to the mandir because he says he doesn't want her to get sick as she will not study and fail the test, his not revealing anything.
