because he want the reason for keeping her at a distance to be removed. That way he will have to accept her (because we know he wants to). His ego stops him from accepting Gopi as she is because he has been so vocal about what he thinks of illiterate people. He can't be seen doing a U-turn.

When Kokila said that he is to remove Gopi from the school it was clear from his face that he didn't want this - even though she had been caught cheating.

Sandy, you are very optimistic and are seeing something you are wishing to see.

Sorry but Aham's aversion to Gopi is still apparent, if he wants to accept her, when she came to grab onto to him to hug him he would have returned the hug, but it was all one sided, in fact he pulled away immediately and was more interested in questioning her what happened, with guys when they like you and fancy you, they take every opportunity to hold you close (especially budding love), with Aham he does sometimes for example the mango plucking scene he didn't recognise he was holding her hand initially, until she snatched it away. Also he would have taken time to wipe her tears for her and further reassurance by touching her shoulder as he spoke to her, that he would resolve this issue with the principal the next day, but he didn't do that.

I'm a bit more cautious, I've observed his gone against his mother for the first time, by not taking out her name from the register, and that also for the first time he has listened to her explain what happened without snapping at her whilst she was talking.

To me yes he does want her educated but the reason being to further separate them, I think his thinking of divorce when she finishes her studies, as she will be able to stand up on her own two feet and not be so vulnerable, as she is now.

I agree though his physically attracted to her sometimes, the chemistry and the stares but I feel for her to be completely worthy she needs to be extremely educated and modern as Anita was, and even if Gopi can read and write, count she is still just above being a Gawar, she will still lack common sense and still unsuitable to be his wife.

The real love will come to him when he has flashbacks of her and starts missing her when she leaves the house...which I feel will happen.

Nafisa, i understand you point and maybe I am being optimistic. But I truely don't think Ahem wants a divorce. I think since Switzerland he has had his eyes opened up by Kokila. He is not ready yet to admit his feeling, even to himself. But he does admire Gopi. He is a reserved person and I don't think he would intentionally show Gopi affection until he admitted his feeling to himself.

Education is a major barrier in their relationship.

ahem loves gopi but not show his feelings if he not love her today he not run for her to save her when she cutting the vegetables [ but when gopi hugs him needs her warm support ahem not hold gopi in the arms ] i think in the one conner of his heart he hesitate to do this the reason is ahems ego comes in between them ...and ahem always say gopi gawar i think this thing that gopi is not educated comes in the mind of ahem...and he personaly wants that gopi gets education ...

Now I think about it some more, in the past I have said that he could have divorced her when she took her vows back, also he should have moved out of the room when Naani left, Kokila's excuses could have held up only for 2 or 3 days max, she said the guest rooms needed a bedding change (Naani's room) and the other guest room was being redecorated, well it's been a long time now and his still in the room with Gopi...so yes he is committed to her but doesn't want to acknowledge their link or commitment.

But the CV's are taking his aloof and reserved nature to new heights as no guy that fancies a girl can be that reserved, especially as she threw herself at him in the privacy of their room, not even a cuddle back from Aham...(poor Gopi).

When he went to lie down on his bed, he was staring at the ceiling with his eyes open and his look was like if I take this step I acknowledge my responsibility to her (well that is what I got from that look).

I tell you it's agonising how slowly his unravelling to become a normal breathing human being, capable of having feelings for someone else other than his mother and himself.

No, she wasn't cheating. Rashi had written the gayatri mantra on a chit and on the other side she had written the hindi alphabets unknown to gopi, so during the exam the chit fell down and the teacher reprimanded gopi for cheating.

At this point Ahem and Kokila did not know about the chit - so assumed she was guilty of cheating as reported by the school. So in know this Ahem still wanted Gopi to continue with studies. He was frustrated his mum told him to take her out of school.

I agree with you guys especially Nafisa about Ahem doing it because he may want to divorce her. I feel that he wants to do it so that he feels less guilty when he eventually divorces her as he will then feel that she'll be able to live separate from him and his family. I believe that he does have a degree of attraction to her but that's clearly not enough to base a marriage on
