I will never believe that it is Aham who has ruined Gopi life. I always will say it is Koki. Koki knew her son loved Anita, still went against her sons wish and got him married to a gavar. She also knows he hates Illiterate people so why. All she needed was a Daughter in law under her control thats it.

At the start of the show, i remember Koki said to a priest that she needs a daughter in law under her control and not educated girl. So thats why she picked Gopi over rashi, cause she knew Rashi sin't the type of girl she needs as Rashi would rule over her.
I will blame Koki for ruining - aham-gopi-Anita lives for just one mistake of hers which was picking an girl which her son will be suffocated with and will never accept it as his wife.
He needs a companion who is modern, who could understand him, which Gopi can't do, Education will not make Gopi change at all, so i think Education is a useless thing in this show right now for Gopi... Anita was the only girl who could, could understand him after his mother, which his mother failed to understand him, and didn't ask him anything which was something most important of his life. Marriage.. s Gopi isn't something he needed IT was Anita.
