Gopi is one of the many girl children in the country who are denied education and instead are forced to help in household chores from a young age. Things are all set to change now since Gopi's mother-in-law Kokila will agree to allow her to get educated, after a lot of urging from Gopi's side.
A Starplus.in source reveals, "Mani could have lost her life after Gopi gave her tablets past the expiry date. Gopi has now realized how important it is to know to read and write. Currently, Kokila is not convinced as she feels that she selected Gopi due to her inherent goodness and simplicity and should not feel that she has any inadequacy. Kokila, after seeing Gopi's persistence, will relent and appoint a tutor for her."
This is not the first instance when Gopi has suffered or blundered due to her illiteracy. In the past, Gopi has been unable to do a simple task like sign her name after receiving a courier. After marriage, she washed Ahem's laptop and hung it on the clothes rope to dry, obviously inviting Ahem's wrath. During their trip to Switzerland, Gopi was lost and unable to find her way as she could not read. Gopi's scheming cousin Rashi too, has taken advantage of her illiteracy. The most recent instance being when Gopi tried to stitch Ahem's name on his socks, Rashi fooled her into writing 'I love you Ahemji'. Had Gopi been educated she could have avoided such humiliating situations.
Gopi speaks her heart out as she says, "I was very anguished after Mani almost lost her life due to my mistake and all this happened due to my inability to read. This incident was a big eye opener for me and I have realized the importance of education. I am trying to convince Maaji to allow me to learn to read and write and I just hope she agrees."
Gopi personally believes that everyone should have access to basic education and shares her views as she quips, "It is necessary to receive at least basic education especially if your're living in a city where everyone is so street smart. Even educated people get taken for a ride, so I can only imagine what illiterate people must be going through."
