It is supposed to but if the parents decide that even with the rakhi relationship you need to get married then it happens!

I have a friend who was on rakhi basis with one of her brother's friends. Because she tied the rakhi and it was her brother's friends her parents didn't think anything of it. But when they tried to set her up with someone else who they thought was "appropriate" she eloped with her rakhi bhai.

well she thought she was tying rakhi to dhawal urmilla always throws them away, they are not related blood, she is jeetus neice, whislt dhawal is urmilas nephew, relationship between gopi and dhawal can happen thank god it didnt

Actually it kind of just happened. They didn't realize their feeling until she was being set up with someone else. Then the parents wouldn't hear of it.
