I have a few language questions now.

I take it that the word 'vevaan' (excuse the spelling!) in Gujurati means your child's mother-in-law? (I don't understand Gujurati, just bits that I have learnt from SNS!) So, as we have seen, both Hetal and Kokila call Urmila 'vevaanji', since Urmila is Hetal's son's MIL and Kokila's kids' aunt-in-law and close enough to MIL.

My actual question is, how come Urmila only usually refers to Kokila as 'vevaanji' and calls Hetal 'moti ben' most of the time? 'Moti ben' means elder sister, right? I would have thought that she would refer to both of them as 'vevaanji', or at least to Hetal more than Kokila, since Hetal is actually her own daughter's MIL. Have I misunderstood what that word means? Or is this another special Urmism?

Also, how come Urmila calls Hetal 'moti ben' but most of the time other people refer to her as 'mota bhabi' and not 'moti bhabi'? I guess this is a grammar thing?

Thanks!

1. Vevaan in Hindi means samdhi...I guess... you call your daughters/sons/brother/sisters in-laws samdhi jee...
but sometimes out of love ladies also refers each other as didi or moti behan...
My mom calls my sisters mil Didi...it is out of love..otherwise Vevaan is a general term which everyone use. So its a special thing. thats why Urmila calls Hetal moti behan and kokila vevaan jee..

2. Yes it is a gender thing. Most of people who don't know hindi struggle with this the most.

Moti behan...means elder sister
Mota behan..is wrong..means nothing
Usually Bhabhi is used for lady who is wife of your elder brother or wife of your husbands elder brother...

Moti bhabhi doesn't seems right since the later word i.e. Bhabhi is already used as respect for elder so the first word would be Mota not moti. Moti sounds disrespecting.

Its difficult to explain...I hope i've done a good job. 😃

Off late I seen many xxx related , indirect post, made by members(not sure if they are male).I agree now and then things can be said, but this is becoming like a R rated forum.I am sure there are many young members, who may be lured by reading such things. It does not look good for a dignified forum like SNS.please take action against posts that provoke xxx.

Well it is against the forum rules to post adult FF/OS etc or to talk in gestural language which might be offensive for certain age group.

Now mods can't check every post of every topic...so if you see any such post report it using report button. Mod will take action against it.
