After doing films like Tum Bin, Naam Gum Jaayega and Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Rakesh Bapat shifted gears to television.
The actor is currently seen as Neel in Zee's Saat Phere. Rakesh has recently signed Percept's remake of Jai Santoshi Maa.
Navratri release
Confirming the news, the actor said, "Yes, I am excited about this particular film. I play the lead and will start shooting in a week. It's a modern, contemporary adaptation of the classic, and will be released during Navratri."
At the moment, Bapat is happy basking the in the success of Saat Phere. "The show is doing well, and I'm glad people like my character. I don't want to take on more shows at the moment, as I will be dedicating lot of time to the film."
Change of heart
On the personal front, the actor denies reports that there is someone special in his life, but admits he called off an engagement. "I am a highly emotional person. There was a girl I was madly in love with. I even decided to get engaged, but called it off at the last moment."
Why did he back out? "I realised my decision was taken in the heat of the moment. When I sat back and thought about it calmly, I figured it was too early to get married. Today, I am glad I took the step, as it would have made both of us unhappy."
Does this mean he has closed the doors on any future relationship? "I am not saying that, but I am a very stubborn person. At the moment, I don't want to think about getting into a full-time relationship, since I am totally committed to work."
Not many know that Rakesh has a passion for riding horses. "Whenever I go to Pune, I take time out to go riding. It's more than just a hobby for me. I also enjoy painting and sculpting."
Although Bapat isn't a fitness freak, he says martial arts keep him in shape. "I regularly practice Taekwondo. It helps me keep a healthy mind and body," he says. |
