I am wondering if they are going to do a "take" on the novel "Wuthering heights" where the main protagonist has a deranged wife locked up in one of the rooms and his new love keeps hearing these screams but he cannot tell her .....
Of Course the guy is not at fault and basically the wife is completely crazy and violent .....
Maybe they are going to pull the same story on us in Saath Phere... where Nahar goes every night to meet his previous wife - who is locked up in one of the rooms in the haveli - to check on her 😛

That novel is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and not Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

Ooh yes ! Thank you Mika 🤗

You know - thinking of the plot of Jane Eyre ...am reminded that Jane and Edward do not get married because Edward's wife is still alive (albeit deranged)...and only on her demise do they unite......

The thing I was reminiscing about is - this novel became really popular in the 1800s when the topic was very apt - that yes ..a guy couldn't marry another girl when his former wife was alive. That kind of a story could never fly in the early nineties or even the late eighteen hundreds in countries like Britain or other European or American countries.

And now.... in 2006 .... that kind of a theme is still valid in India.

I mean - that question does get raised .... in a country where polygamy is not really legal ... should a husband get married when his first wife is alive - even if mentally incompetent???

That question comes to our country .... 200 years too late !

hahaha tht's true..

Ya, i really wonder what the Key was for. But could Nahar's family really deceive saloni to such a great extent ? I mean is tht the reason they are all being sweet to Saloni despite the "colour" issue is still prominent in Rajasthan amongst evry1? I mean afterall Nahar's family is still answerable to the society, so why shud they be an exception? Are everyone in the family really that sweet and good? or do they really hv a selfish motive? It seems that they are like toooo good to be true. When every1 else in the society (including Saloni's mum) is colour/looks/class conscious, they are the only ones who are willing to close one eye to this fact. Absurd.

But then again, i dont think so they are that bad to actually play with a innocent girl's life. Plus, Nahar even rejected Shubra although she was pretty becoz he thot Saloni had inner beauty. But another reason for him to reject Shubra cud be coz he felt she was too out-spoken and if she found out tht he had a wife b4, she would create loads of commotion which perhaphs Saloni wouldnt, seeing her submissive nature.

But Manno bhabhi, who arranged the alliance, also said tht it's a very good n well-to-do family. And even if Nahar had a first wife, i m sure, seeing their status, the whole of Rajasthan wud be aware. And Manno Bhabhi wont hide anything frm Saloni's family i suppose.

So i really hv no idea how the story would progress.
