Saas Bina Sasuraal - End of my dream

Have been a silent viewer in this forum. But today, really want to vent my thoughts and feelings here. I haven't missed a single episode of SBS till date but what happened in today's episode has set me thinking whether we audience deserve such serials or does SBS deserve such loyal fans as us.

I think the answer is the latter. SBS doesn't deserve loyal audience and respect. The main USP of SBS was that it was a light hearted comic entertainer whose only intention was to present even serious situations in such a way so as to bring a smile on the face of the viewer.

I liked the wide array of characters - Gyan and his innocence, Pracheen and golu (i guess there aren't many episodes where golu hasnt been shown :) - his bickering with toasty's younger sis, ved bhayya (his ichcha poorti hanuman part 2 movies and religious side), pashu-malthi(and that action of his when he raises his arm/hand at slightest provocation), toasty-tej romance, dadaji and chhedi light hearted banter - dadaji's reading of accidents and deaths in every day's newspaper, toasty's family - the lalit kumar sharmas - her dad's referring to everyone by their full name etc. I dont know when SBS became a part of everyday life and its characters one of us.

There many incidents which have been intentionally and unintentionally funny which have made me ROFL ..for example ..tej speaks about Pashu's marriage and Pashu asks his dad to marry, When the entire family asks Ved to go on a date with his nitikaji and he needs prompting etc ..many hilarious incidents :) these are two I can recollect off the cuff.

But alas, the makers of this show could not stop themselves from going down the route that many great serials have taken only to repent later. Is bride swapping so common in India that every serial needs one ? Trend started with Uttaran, then the disease afflicted Simar ka sasural and now SBS..Is it so easy to swap brides --no one cares about the height, weight, complexion of the bride after swap has happened --you can easily replace a tall bride with a short one and a fat bride with a thin one and no one will know 😡 . Utter nonsense --If so, I worry this will become an industry in our country.

Next question - What was the need to bring a self centered character - Kia? I am not speaking against the actress (she's doing a good job). Were the writers of SBS so mentally bankrupt that they had no idea how to take the story forward ? Chhedi is such a great observer of human nature and human relations that he cannot see Kia for what she is - a gold digger ? Its a total character assassination. Period.

What purpose is now served by bringing Kia here? This show is no longer different from other Saas Bahu sagas. I am sure in future episodes - Kia will cause mayhem and divide the family. Is this why we used to watch SBS in the first place? If so, we can watch a Pratigya or a Diya Baati. There is crass - negativity there. Why should we waste our time and energy on this serial ? I feel let down and taken for a ride. I am really angry that I wasted valuable time on such a predictable serial. I hope and pray that almighty gives some sense to the writers of this show so that they can save it in time before it tanks. I hope better sense prevails.

I haven't been able to watch today's episode yet but from what I have been reading on the forumI do have an idea of what happened. I agree with what all you wrote above. SBS is the only Indian tv show I watch and have loved it dearly but with Kia's entry I started to feel detached. I have always hated Kia and in last 2-3 weeks they degraded Ved's character and we saw a drastic drop SBS' level of maturity. With this new twist, I have lost all hope...I don't think SBS is managed by the same team now. Sad!

I do hope someone from SBS reads the opinions on this site and realises what a mockery they have made of this show. Hope the show goes for the better.

You couldn't have said it better. I watched SBS for the same reasons that you did. In fact, I almost felt that I was in the living room with them. I particularly loved the mornings when Dadaji would get the daily horoscope read and the gentle predictability of their routine and their light humor.

I was hoping that toasty would expose Kia - Kia would leave, exit right and then we would enjoy a week of lighthearted wedding related fun. why are they assassinating Chedi and Ved's character like this?

How are we to endure a household with Kia in it?

I think that I will hang around for a bit and hope the CVs see sense and don't destroy the USP of this show - and keep it as the light hearted family show that we want it to be. That has attracted us in the first place.

There is so much room for development of story line - Nitika as a bahu, Nitika and Ved, the Sharma family episodes- they could really develop this story without damaging its core strenghts. Please do not drag out the Kia episode - you will completely lose your loyal audience.
