Dear Sir,

sub: Regarding new fridge for house

According to you, your wife was able to run the house without a fridge. Yes, sir, you got that right. Even my mother ran a household without a fridge until the year I turned 10.

The urban system we live in does not support fresh produce any more. Your wife must have got fresh milk from a cow milked at the street corner. The milk we get is "old"- pasteurized and sold- got alone knows after how many days- sometimes it is reconstituted.

That said, even vegetables are now refrigerated and are no longer "farm fresh" even if you do buy it from the store of the same name!

I highly recommend that you not compare your bahu to your wife any more.

Thanking you,
Sincerely,
Blokes

Very well written.

On a side note Mr. Cheddi Lal, do you wish Toasty an early grave just like your wife??? Ever, wondered that too many child birth, enormous amount of housework with no help, and little or no time to recover was perhaps the reason your wife was not strong enough to survive her last pregnancy??? Truth be told, your wife did not have have the amount of work Toasty has, she has to cook for grown men where as your wife had to cook for little boys or babies. Your father was able to do his work properly and now dadaji needs help with everything. Moreover, not only Toasty needs to take care of you, your father, and your ungrateful, tactless, lazy and ill mannered children, she has to listen to their taunts and verbal abuse day in and day out which I assume that your wife never had to.

So appreciate what you have, and don't compare her to your infallible wife, because she also could not survive you all and passed away early.

Wow!! Awesomely put people...
Chhedilal needs to get into a time machine and go live with his wife again...whatever sanskaars he's talking about having given to his kids..Pashu - an sarcastic, rude, never-happy excuse of a man?? that's the beginning & end of his sanskaars...I dont care what he's been through previously, but his unhappy attitude makes sure he makes everyone else around him sad as well..
Toasty has to deal with humongous men and their unkindly attitude...who dont believe in doing any work & yes, have a got a maid for free...!!

The CVs ignored the fact that no one mentioned to Chedi the reason why Toasty's mom got involved this time. The reason being Pashu, the crazy animal was htting Prachin and they were just trying to stop him.

I honestly think Pashu needs to be spanked and Chedi needs his brains checked. The biggest question is why dadaji is not revealing the facts to Chedi?

I would love to see one day when toasty gets completely fed up and use this whole paragraph and take all her anger out from all the daily taunts and THEN WALK OUT and let them live in the mess that they were before and eat food with roaches instead of masalas... ahhhh the writers need to read this....

I'm looking at this from a different angle. Chedi said yesterday that the problems are arising because the brothers are no longer united, and he is going to change that. Maybe he is purposely being unfair to Toasty. And he is going into extremes in doing so, so that even Pashu and Ved become sympathetic towards Toasty. You never know, at the end Pashu and Ved may start supporting Toasty and Chedi's purpose of uniting the brothers will be served.

kajal- it is not an issue only with Chedi ji- this is a drama and dialogue repeated in innumerable households across the world (yeah, not just India- China, America, France, Haiti!) where comparisons between wives/ dils, fathers and sons, sisters and brothers, cousins, neighbors etc. are made. It is a larger social issue of comparison and saying one is better than the other. rarely do people go beyond it and recognize that situations and parameters are different and hence no one can be compared to another.

The beauty about this serial is thanks to Toasty's dad and his world view, Toasty is a pragmatist. She understands where each of her motley members of her family come from. Hence she tries her best to just do what is needed without getting overly emotional about what they "say" to her or about her. However, she still lacks the ability to "teach" them in a way that is best suited to them. Of course, the danger is that she can take it too personally and destroy the entire thing by throwing in the towel like Malti did.
