Lata-Asha Duets

Lata Mangeshkar and Asha bhonsle are two legends of Hindi film music.Between the two of them they have sung about 50,000 songs in a number of languages.(though there is no certain proof about the exact number of songs) Ironically they have sung only about 75 duets together!!I want to dedicate this post to the Mangeshkar sisters and the magic they worked when they sang together......

Their last duet of note being Aaina hai mera chehera... with Suresh Wadkar in Aaina (1993) under Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen . Their first duet, was Yeh rookhi rookhi hawayein... from Daaman (1951) composed by K.Datta and the first popular song was Shankar Jaikishen's Manbhavan ke ghar... (Chori Chori/1955) under Shankar Jaikishan.

Nice thread. We have many duets of Lata-Usha. But I think Lata-Asha duets are not many. Infact I had no idea we had any. 😆

u r right,Bhaskarji...there are very few duets of Asha-Lata.....Probably "man kyon behka "and "main chali main chali" are the most popular ones😊

Hi Rock n Roll, I like the way you have given video links for the songs.

One of my very favourite Lata-Asha duets is "Sakhi re sun gori" from the movie Miss Mary. Beautiful song. Maybe you can find the video link? Another one is from Adalat "Ja ja re ja saajana" in which Lata sings the melancholy part while Asha sings the vibrant part.

How beautifully the two sisters complemented each other! And the listeners went to heaven for a while!
