HERE's an article I found about adi's fathers song choice....I wonder if it is the same as ADI's

Interview : Mellifluous Udit!

No words will do justice in introducing the great singer of today's times, Udit Narayan. No fake demeanors, arrogance, show or airs, only a whole lot of talent and a musical gamut carefully fashioned over the years – that's Udit Narayan for you, the modest yet the most gifted singer in Bollywood today. In this interview, we catch up with Udit Narayan for a heart-to-heart talk.

Excerpts from an Interview:

Udit tell us, what kind of songs do you prefer to listen to?

Well, over the years I've song quite a number of songs and I particular like those numbers that are well supplied with nice music together with catchy lyrics. And if the singer is nice, then the song becomes all the more nice to listen to.

And what kind of songs irks you?

Music can never infuriate anybody. But yes, I do dislike songs in which there are no melodies, bad lyrics, bad tune and bad singer. In short I dislike songs that are devoid of melody. In today's time you get to hear a lot of these kinds of tracks and I wonder what exactly makes them find a place with the listeners. I believe music should be a balm not only for the senses but for the mind as well.

Of late, a lot of films with good music have made its way to the stands. Which one would be your numero uno pick?

My ideal pick of all would be 'Om Shanti Om'. I personally loved it. Not that this album boasts of anything new and unique but what especially makes it top my list of favorites is its great music.

I had told Vishal-Shekhar much prior to the films release that the songs would surely be chartbuster smash hits and quite fortunately even the film pulled off to a big hit. I'm very happy.

What do you have to comment over the remix trend that is in its all time high now?

I do not favor remixes. I only like original tracks. I feel that they are musically more tasteful and refined. No remixes for me.

What's your all time favorite romantic number?

Well, that has to be the title track from the film 'Dil To Pagal Hai'.

You have been around in the industry for quite some time. What do you have to say about the contemporary musical scene in Bollywood today?

Look, I'm not being a conformist over the matter when I say that 'Old is gold'. I do not think that the contemporary musicians can in anyway beat the maestros of the yesteryears.

Definitely, contemporary music is not that good but its not that bad either. All kind of songs gets easy buyers nowadays, whether good or bad. But for me melody counts the most. Song sans melody is like body sans soul.

Enjoy!!! And,leave a comment!!!!!

Thanks for the article. I too agree to most things he says, but not with his choice of all time fav song - the title track of "dil to pagal hain" as most romantic ??????

Thanks for sharing.... but about him and Adi having the sae choice.... well Udit Narayan says that he doesnt like the new contemperary music of today and Aditya.... well.... he did a diploma in English COntemperary music 😆 .... so Im gussing Adi likes the new songs but I read in one of Adi's profiles that he likes almost every types of music(Punk, Alternative, Rock, Ol' Skool, Soul, R'n'B, Hip Hop, Hindi) So Im guessing taste in music do not run in the genes.... but the two of them stil have many things in common... the way they talk, act, their manners... also Aditya's singing has a little touch of Udit Narayan that makes it extra great 😳 👏
