Abhijeet Sawant strikes 'Lottery' with acting!
By MIO Team
Nov 24, 2007, 20:18

India's very first Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant, after rocking the chartbusters with his musical hit, is all set to make it big in Bollywood now. The singer is believed to have bagged the lead role in 3S Creations' 'Lottery' to be directed by famous tele-serial maker Hemant Prabhu.

This romantic thriller has its music by Santokh Singh of 'Channa Ve' fame. The film was launched on November 15 with the recording of a song at Spectral Harmony.

The singing onus quite predictably rests with Abhijeet himself apart from Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and others joining him in the gig. Hemant Prabhu has done the screenplay while Aadesh K Arjun has penned down the dialogues for this film. Prakash Kutty will crank the camera.

The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be decided.

Now the question arises - Is this the future of these reality show winners. Earlier another II contestant launched himself into acting on TV serials (cant recall the name). Twinkle is already there too.....Sumedha and Junaid too hv confirmed receiving acting offers.....and now Abhijit Sawant too. This seems to be making a trend now.....how far good is this when some good singer end up into acting.

i know eh? its so wierd how people participate in singing contests but end up acting. i mean its ok, they can do what they want to but it's just wierd.

i guess acting (especially on television) is much easier to get into than singing. i mean amit tandon and twinkle are famous and making money acting in serials while others are struggling to get a chance to sing. i think it's because there are so many tv channels out there and new shows are launched all the time and so many many actors can be launched as well. it can happen in films too but films with debutant actors are usually flops (i doubt abhijeet sawant's film will do well).

meanwhile in singing, there are certain big names who the public is just used to hearing and also are the favourites of MDs. even when these MDs fulfil their promises made on reality shows that they will give a contestant the chance to sing, the song usually goes unnoticed. the best way to get noticed in singing is in private albums, not playback.

Well I think so long as a person has a skills or talent in one area they can also venture in others too. Eg. Several models too get acting breaks, similarly for dancers and performers too. I am not surprised that Sumedha is getting an acting break as she has the looks and also the fan base to ride on.

i personally think that acting is their ultimate goal... 'cuz it's much more of a bigger platform than a playback singer...and it's good for them to enter it at a tender age so that they can learn from their mistakes... sonu tried it...but unfortunately wasn't upto the mark...and he shud stick to singing😳...HR...well..he has a huge fan following ...so.he got lucky

I had a dream
Abhijeet Sawant comes out with his autobiography

AN IDOL FOR MANY Abhijeet Sawant, now an author Photo: Anu Pushkarna
Carl Jung has very well said this - Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. We all are dreamers but most of us forget it by the next morning but there are very few who dream and start desperately working towards turning it into a reality. Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant feels, he is one such dreamer. Having tried his luck at the Sony TV's hunt for singers from a middle-class Mulund colony in Mumbai, Abhijeet says, surely, it is a dream come true for him to win the Indian Idol title and along with it, a good foothold in music industry. He has not only come out with his solo album but has recently come up with his autobiography, 'Aapka Abhijeet'. The book, a Popular Prakashan publication, encompasses Abhijeet's journey from the streets of Mulund to the stage of fame. The shy guy, at Crossword, Galaxy Towers near Delhi-Jaipur highway, is very much excited about his book and has dedicated the tome to the masses that had heard, voted and supported him. "I want to dedicate my book to all of them who had voted for me and accepted me as their Indian Idol and still admire me and give their love," says Abhijeet. The book has photographs and write-ups written by Abhijeet about his experiences in his musical journey called 'Life'. He says, "the book would inspire our Generation Next to be determined and focussed. Also, it teaches a lesson that, it doesn't matter where you come from and in what condition, but the thing that matter most is, how desperately you want something from your life." With Sonu and Shah Rukh

On being asked whether his dream ends at winning the Indian idol crown, Abhijeet says, "I want to sing with Sonu Nigam and also I want to perform with Shah Rukh Khan again." Abhijeet's book has been launched in Mumbai before Delhi and is now available at bookstores in English, Hindi and his mother tongue, Marathi.

Agreed...she has the plus points and same is with Junaid too so he is getting the offers....but then what about others. do we then take that with singing now they need to hv this talent too so as to stay alive in the entertainment industry.....because now if we see others we'll find most are hardly here anymore.

But then as Ron mentioned...the amount of drama they need to go thru here maybe they automatically get the required training.😆
