This is time of reality musical shows which are driven by SMS voting and related dramas.Nevertheless apart from this similarity there is one more common thing in these shows and that is in all three shows towards the end we see more male singers compared to female singers. Indian Idol and SRGMP are concluded and in VOI also we have only male contestents left.
1.Not only the reality shows do you think it's the trend in music industry any ways?Do you think male singers have gotten more populer appeal.In these musical shows even if the female is far more technically capable and sound better but at end is lost before finals.Does this mean the preference is not limited if whether the listener is male or female...
2.If you look at the preference and also in the golden era , you will find male playback albums or duet were/are more populer, with exception to few movies....Do you think on popularity level if you compare will todays singers like sunidhi will score higher then sonu nigam? And even will singers like Lata ji, asha geeta dutt will score higher then kishor kumar or rafi sahib?
What could be some of the reasons/hypothesis?(the trend here iam talkinmg about is not limited to musical reality shows but a trend in general since golden era time)
a)Male singer song is/was dominent , picturized on a hero and has a visual appeal and female version often has a relatively lower importance(?), and songs in 40-50 female songs were slow , sad not the type of songs ypu will listen in gatherings.
b)Picturization for male songs had more charisma/X factor? May be?
Now coming to the question /hypothesis..
1 Is this true that male singers were /are more populer and has this trend changed in alst few years?
2.Do you think the facter in popularity is based on soley on male female voice or does it deoend on lyrics/ picturization?
3. Do you think this trend is true in non filmi work also, and western , bhajans etc also?
