No, I'm not talking about their singing. I'm talking about public sympathy.

Flashback to C2005. Debojit regularly gets low points from Himesh/Aadesh, who leave no chance to criticize him. He accepts it with a smile and never loses his cool. Public feels sympathetic towards him. He wins C2005.

Forward to C2007. On the first day Yogendra is dissuaded from singing his guru's song, and when he does, he is given a very public lesson on how he should have sung. Yog takes it in the right spirit and even applauds his mentor's performance. In the very next episode, Yog's chances are dismissed by his mentor even before he gets a chance to come on stage. Barely does he finish his performance than Himesh gets the mike and remarks that it was a bad performance, even before the other mentors can comment on it. All through this, Yog handles it with a smile - an attitude that even Asha ji commends him on. He's already won her sympathy - and that of a million others.

See the similarities? No, I'm not saying Yogendra will win this competition. But his mentor's leaving no stones unturned to ensure that he gets public support right from from the beginning. And if that means he has to divert his ire towards his own contestants, then so be it.

I dont think it is himesh's trick.... if you see the promos for the episode were specifically shot so this all drama was scripted and decided.... as such its noone's fault....

Mauli is given hype....
Amanat is given underdog....
and Yogendra is given sympathy.....
😆

I agree with you, I mentioned that he'll be getting sympathy votes in another post also. But in Debojit's case, ID was never that harsh on him, it was the other mentors, so it looked like the other mentors were ganging up on him. That makes for great public sympathy. Here Yogendra's own mentor is criticizing him constantly. Will public sympathy work for that? Some people might simply think, if his own mentor does not think him worth anything, there is no point in voting for him.😕

kabhhi_21: even if the drama is scripted, I guess the mentors get to decide what role they want their protege to play. E.g. Vineet's love story drama was most probably thought up by HR. Zee happily went along with it because it brought in TRPs, but I would think the primary idea came from HR.

I dont think it came from HR.... he is now a professional actor.... so he will go by the script given to him on hand.... even Ismail darbar has made debut in acting in his new album by making an appearance😆

I think Shady you may be bang on target. This is exactly what even I was feeling when I was watching the show. I feel this time round it will be HR who is going to play this sympathy card.

I am just cracking up at deductions here 😆 😆 😆 but they are very germane and logical.. 😃 😃
My 2 cents:
I think Himmy was right when he advised that the singers should not attempt to sing difficult Asha/RDB songs at such an early stage because the comparison will do nothing but doom them. Although it was too late by then. I think the show should start with easier style of songs and slowly graduate to tougher categories as the singers season up and the crowd thins to more refined ones.

I agree this round should have been at later stage when 10 people are selected😃
