I have only been watching Sa Re Ga Ma Pa when I have nothing better to do before Indian Idol. So could someone tell me why there were lawaris (without mentor) participants today? Also, do two people from each gharana participate each week? Thanks in advance!

The Eklavya gharana consists of contestants who have potential but were unfortunately not selected right away. This is their chance to participate. Every week 2 contestants are eliminated and the next week 2 contestants are chosen from the Eklavya gharana to replace them.

And yes, 2 contestants from each gharana participate every week 😛

Thanks for yr response. I really didn't watch SRGMP challenge in '05 and '06 due to not having time. But I always wondered why the show just never ended. Now it make sense! Thanks, again!
