Superstitions in Bollywood..

Do you believe in something which most people think is superstition. Do you know of any superstitions in Bollywood singers/actors/MD's.What do you think about manglik-non manglik marriages..latest example Aish-Abhisheik marriage..Do you believe in astrology/Jyotish Vidya??

I don't know about Mangalik.. because I am not one.. But I truly belive in Astrology because whatever predicted thru my Janma Kundali so far has came true.. Also belive in Numerology have seen significant changes in my life after I changed spelling in my name...

I know some people belive, some don't.. it is up to their beliefs but one should respect others belief....

When it comes to Aishwarya Rai.. it is well known fact that she is bad omen to others... brings bad luck whoever comes in to her life.. Stars changed during October 06.. so may be her best phase in her personal life may have started now...

All I know is that Puja, visiting Temples, thanthra, manthra may slow the blow.. but one has to go thru whatever written in her/his fate...

Superstitions and the Bollywood Filmworld


Superstitions rule the roost in the world. Ditto for Bollywood. Superstitions are the order of the day here. People change their own names, names of films and even locations when they have to cater to a certain superstition, so that evil or bad luck does not befall them.

Numerology plays an important part in this. Latest on the block is young Tushar Kapoor. He has changed his name to Tusshar now.

"His astrologer wanted him to do it. He has even taken off the Kapoor from his name," says his father Jeetendra. Jeetendra himself has been a party of the name changing game. Born Ravindra Kapoor, he changed it to Ravi Kapoor before changing it again to Jeetendra. Jeetendra's daughter Ektaa Kapoor, the Creative Director of Balaji Telefilms, believes that her serials will only work if they start with the letter K. Hence, her creative team rack their brain round the clock to find out a name starting with K. Karm, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kudumbam, Kanyadaan. The names are endless. The joke in Balaji is that Ektaa may soon change her name to Ktaa!!

Jeetendra's close buddy Rakesh Roshan is also into the business of changing names. In case you are not aware, Rakesh Roshan's complete name is Rakesh Roshanlal Nagrath. Thus Roshanlal is Rakesh's father's name. So, while actually Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan should have all been called Rakesh Nagrath, Rajesh Nagrath and Hrithik Nagrath, they are called Roshans because of Rakesh Roshan's belief. And his son's name became Hrithik Roshan.

Raking of Rakesh's movies, he also has the K fetish. All his directorial films start with K. The list has Khudgarz, Kishen Kanhaiyya, Kala Bazaar, Khel, King Uncle, Khoon Bhari Maang (which got Rekha a National Award), Karan Arjun, Koyla, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Karobar.

Rakesh's father-in-law J Om Prakash, also a film producer used to have his films starting with the alphabet A. That is one reason why Rakesh Roshan never directed a film produced by his father-in-law. Ghai's fetish for the letter M is known arguing on the basics of his company 'Mukta' Arts, his heroines Manisha, Madhuri and Mahima.

Ramesh Sippy's film starting with an S did good business till Shaan flopped forcing Sippy to opt for other alphabets.

Karishma Kapoor dropped 'h' from her name to become Karisma. Aditya Pancholi added an S to become Panscholi, Babloo Mukherjee dropped a B to be Abloo Mukherjee. The joke doing the rounds was that someone told Babloo to be silent. He thought it was 'B' silent and became Abloo.

Ajay Sahni, Balraj Sahni's son, changed his name to Parikshit Sahni after a few flops like Pavitra Paapi to name a few.

Mohammad Yusuf Sarwar Khan changed his name to Dilip Kumar, Fatima Bi became Nargis and Mehjabeen became Meena Kumari. There are many in this ilk.

Moving on, Indra Kumar used to shoot a particular tree in Ooty with Madhuri Dixit in three films Dil, Beta and Raja. He has made Ishq and Mann later, but they have not been great hits like the earlier three, thanks to the tree.

Manoj Kumar never wanted to travel in a plane. He was scared and felt it was not good for him. But when he had to shoot for Purab Aur Paschim he had to go abroad and thus travel by plane. So he made sure that there was a puja in his house, till he came back - alive. Doesn't Mr Bharat Deshbhakti have something to do with a plane?

His astrologer told Mithun Chakraborthy that his luck would change after he shifted residence to the hills. And hence Mithun shifted shop to Ooty and is doing very well even as a businessman.

Anupam Kher was told by his astrologer to shift the entrance of his company from the west to the north. Anupam also changed the name from Media Entertainment to Radical Entertainment and his company has picked up. He has paid back a few of his creditors now.

Amitabh Bachchan now wears an emerald ring for luck. That made him popular again and he has paid back many of his creditors and gave two hits like Kaun Banega Crorepati on TV and Mohabbatein.

And luck continues to change. Bollywood thus holds on to its belief in superstitions

I personally don't believe in any superstitions. But I believe if you are involved with the most beautiful woman in the world, it can cause lot of bad omen, just for the simple reason that you are dealing with lot of competitors.
